Didn't see anyone else post anything about the game so I thought I would. I REALLY wanted to see other people's opinions about the game, so far.

Well, I reserved and picked up my copy of Mario Power Tennis for the gamecube Wednesday. I guess that is when most stores got theirs in too?

I will have to shamefully admit that with the Nintendo nut I am, I love playing tennis and tennis videogames, and of course with all the Nintendo mascots I really have never played that much of Mario Tennis for the N64. My brother rented it one time and told him it was stupid before even playing it. Granted this was years back and before I started collected videogames fulltime. And didn't have anykind of conception of what made good game or a bad one.

Anyways, I started off playing the game by myself and really liked the gameplay and didn't know how I felt about ALL THE SHIT THAT GOES ON DURING THE GAME!
But as it turns out, the only reason I didn't know how I felt about the game is because I really didn't know how to play. Meaning I didn't have any clue what all the buttons were. This was the first time, probably since I was about 10, that I HAD to look at the instruction manual.

So all in all yesterday, counting the time I played by myself, with my brother, then with all three of us when my neighbor came up, I probably played the game for about 7 hours yesterday. And it being a tennis game I think is pretty impressive. I love all the shit that goes on during the game, now that I know all the special moves and when to use them! This game is like Mario Karts, they are great playing alone, but even better with multiplayer!!!

I even woke up about 2 oclock in the morning last night and started playing the tournament to get new games, courts, etc.
So I definately recommend this game to anyone thinking about getting it!!!

I've been trying to get some good info on the game for days now. Mainly, the supers. I know in the Prince of Tennis games for ps2, the supers are pretty broken, so I was wondering if Mario Power Tennis managed to pull them off right, and keep them from being too overpowered. If they didn't, I may just stick with the N64 one.

I like it, but the specials make it so unrealistic that you just wish that they were not there.

I really have been enjoying this game since last Saturday (most Meijers seemed to have gotten it early), but I'm stuck on the final match of the Gimmick Masters cup :(

Well, that kinda is the point of MarioTennis games. I mean all the specials and craziness that goes on. At first I didn't like it that much, but when playing with friends and when you finally learn ALL the moves and when to do it, the game is AWESOME.

If I want real tennis I go to my dreamcast and play Tennis 2K2 and Virtua Tennis.

Will be a long time. LOok at double dash and mario golf. Those games will be at 45-50 for a while.

I plan on picking it up after hominid.

Actually, Golf is $30 and has been since the summer.

I am getting really pissed at Shy Guy because of his constant use of his offensive power shot...

Just saw a commercial for it about 10 minutes ago... It looks like a fun game, but I dont even own a GC. I am "asking" for one for christmas, but if I dont get one I'll just buy it myself. Most definitley getting Double Dash with it. This tennis game looks like it would be a fun one to get ahold of, so i'll probably get it as well (assuming it is a good game)

Yeah, I am surprised that you didn't know that Mario Golf has been at 29.99 and as low as 24.99 for quite some time now. I would say at least 6 or more months.
Which I am definately surprised it was lowered so soon!!!

Does anyone else find it funny that Mario Power Tennis, which just arrived in stores, already has a "Best Seller" seal on its box? LOL

Ah, this went on with how Paper Mario had the best seller logo on it before it was released. I think they put them there because the previous games for the N64 were best sellers. Maybe.

I also just saw yesterday that WindWaker had the best seller logo on it.

I honestly don't like it. I think it makes the front look cheap. I was trying not to get any games with that on there, but when I went to go get my reserved copy of MT, the guy pulled out a copy with the best seller logo and I was like, SHIT!

At least Wind Waker deserves the title, since it qualified for Player's Choice status a long time ago and yet remained at $50 because it continued to sell even at that price.

Putting "Best Seller" on their new games must be Nintendo's new way of preparing everyone to pay $50 for a while. :)
