Besides the fact that devilman took all my suggestions (*grumblegrumble*), Here (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1563&highlight=sms) is a thread that has a bunch of great ideas for this wonderful little console.

I don't have one, but they probably do. I know for sure that you can play Euro games on a NTSC SMS.

There are some good suggestions already, and because it hasn't been mentioned yet...
R-Type
Great game, the box is wrong about the number of levels. I love the SMS game packaging (barring the like 4 games that are other colors). And though there are only like 114 US titles, and almost no third-party titles, the number of good to bad games is truely wonderful.

To answer your question from earlier, European, US and Brazillian SMS games are inter-compatable. As for games, well, I can recommend these games that I conviently have for trade -
Sonic The Hedgehog [complete]
Phsyco Fox [complete]
Phantasy Star [loose]
Altered Beast [complete]
PM me if interested :)

Ayup. Some of them aren't passing muster for condition; in any case I just need to get them outta da house.
I should probably add some other things to that list while I'm at it...

A lot of people like ZILLION but I have no idea what to do in this.
Write down or memorize the four symobls you find by destoying the posts in evey room (it's easy to memorize because if you actually look at them, they're all numbers with their mirror images attached to them.) Then go plug all those numbers in the rooms computer and the doors will open. That's about 80% of the game right there.
You'll find out why it's such a great game, though. Just watch out, Zillion 2 stinks.
I'd also like to second Golveliius and add Wonder Boy in Monster Land, as well as Alex Kidd in Shinobi World as suggestions!

Any of the Alex Kidd and Wonderboy games. Pyscho Fox, Hang-On, OutRun, Shinobi, ThunderBlade.
I'm a little biased though, I could name the whole collection as games you should play.

Beware, however, some of the arcade ports (I think, at least) aren't quite up to snuff. After Burner and Hang-On were pretty good. OutRun 3D was better than OutRun (and even included an option to play with normal graphics, for those who didn't have 3D Glasses). Both ports of Space Harrier, in my humble opinion, were downright horrible.

Power Strike is one of the best 8-bit shooters ever made.
Golden Axe Warrior was a pretty competent "Zelda Clone"
Kenseiden was a decent platformer.

I agree, except that I thought the non-3D Space Harrier (the only one I've played) was really good considering the technical limitations. I think it's better than the Famicom version, anyhow.
Edit: I just thought of a couple
Spellcaster--find this one. Go ahead and pay a little more than usual for it, too, 'cuz it's rad. One the most impressive SMS games, gameplay-wise anyway. Mystic Defender on the Genesis is the sequel to this, but Spellcaster is a much deeper game.
Lord of the Sword--the game is kind of difficult and it's a bit slow at first, but if you stick with it it's rather rewarding. It reminds me a bit of Zelda II without the overhead sequences, and you've got a bow-and-arrow along with your sword. It looks gorgeous, too.
Did anyone mention Black Belt, Action Fighter, Ghost House (card), My Hero (card), and Spy Vs. Spy (card; probably the definitive version. Better than the NES version and the computer versions. Great for 2 players, too)?

I agree with that statement. The funny thing is, though, I've actually heard people griping about Space Harrier II on the Genesis; complaints about how choppy it is, and how the Genesis was not capable of handling the game faithfully, etc...Hogwash! SHII is great!

Now that I'll agree with. Space Harrier II is indeed superb.
But perhaps I should reiterate what I said in my earlier post. I went back and played the SMS version, and I agree that "horrible" was probably too harsh of a word to use. But it just seems kinda sluggish to me. Though, I'll admit, it does do quite well considering the technological side of things.
Heh. This thread just turned into a Space Harrier discussion.

What about Zaxxon 3D?
Not a *bad* game, but DEFINITELY not what i expected when I bought a Zaxxon game. Quite frankly, Zaxxon on the ColecoVision does a better job...

Even Zillion 2? I guess it's still a good game, just a disappointing sequel to Zillion (in my opinion.)

Is Ninja Gaiden really a proto for the SMS? Any big differences between the non-3D and the 3D versions of some games?

As far as I know, Ninja Gaiden never came out in the US on the SMS. It WAS released on the Game Gear, however. So if it exists for the SMS, it probably is a proto.
Can't speak from experience about the 3D versions of games, but I've heard there are some improvements in the 3D games. Is that true, guys?

Well...they're in 3D. :P
But besides that, I know that OutRun 3D has three completely different songs than that of regular OutRun.
Other than that, I don't think there's any major differences.

No, it was released in the PAL territories (a rom of the prototype is available, however). It's a completely new adventure, and it's better than the Game Gear game (though that has better cutscenes).
