 I pre-ordered Halo 2 LE like 5 months ago, and all is fine, it supposedly shipped on the 5th, here it is almost the 14th, and still no sign of it. I called them and asked what's up, they said "it shipped on the 5th, and should be there soon" I said it should have been here days ago, and she told me to call back the middle of next week if it still hasn't arrived. WTF? It shouldn't take this bloody long to to ship. I'm pissed. I want my Halo 2 LE game dammit!!

You would think that they would have their shit together, but it is apparent that they screwed something up. I would be purty upset by it

ive bought from overstock a couple times and couldnt have been happier.
but, you know who i have had a ton of problems with? the united states postal service. they fucking suck.
anyways, i would assume the game was probably shipped media mail (unless you paid extra for priority), which can take easily ten days to arrive.

I've never had problems with the USPS. UPS, on the other hand I will never use again. I ordered a game from Lik-Sang a few weeks back, and they let it just sit in Hong Kong for 2 days, then it misses getting to the UPS center in time for me to have it on Saturday by 4 hours (You can't pick up packages on Saturdays,) so that's 4 days wasted by them.

Can you get a tracking # on the shipment?

No they said there is no tracking the game. I assume it must have gone out media mail--that is the one and only logical explanation--unless it is lost... :(

Heck yeah. UPS makes you wait all day because you never know when they'll come and they rip you with fees and stuff. I never, ever order from ANYWHERE that ships only UPS.
The postal service is pretty much problem-free if you use priority mail with delivery confirmation. I always use that and have never had a problem.

Threaten to take them to small claims court- they'll probably just send you another one, since the burden of proof that they shipped it is on them (assuming that you can prove you ordered it)
Depending on the filing costs in your county you probably won't make any money (unless your county allows you to sue to cover the filing costs, some do) but you'll screw them over at least.

Are you kidding me? its only been about a week?
I know that its too late to do anything about it but why would you pre-order the game from them rather then from a larger chain like Best Buy, EBWorld or Gamestop or even Walmart where you could have just picked it up? They offer delivery as well if you don't drive.
Regardless, the game was most likely shipped via media mail and there's really nothing that you can do about it but wait since you can't track media mail. Weren't you offered other shipping options such as Priority mail or Fedex 2- day?

Yeah, check the website and/or e-mails and see if they say how it was sent out. Media mail can take up to 2 weeks. :eek 2:

The website and the girl at Overstock said it was sent out USPS. I don't remember priority options for shipping, it was 5 months ago when I pre-ordered it. I have bought from them before without this kind of delay, so I did business with them again. I should have pre-ordered with Best Buy or Gamestop locally I guess...I learned my lesson. Hindsight is 20/20. x_x

Just a latch-ditch suggestion if it doesn't arrive for several weeks :)

I've bought a few things from Overstock and had no troubles but I don't think I've ever bought any games from them. I pretty much hate their search engine...it never works for me. I type in a specific item and it gives me thousands of matches and usually not what I'm specifically looking for...

I'm in a similar situation with Gamestop.com. Pre-ordered Halo 2 LE and got a shipment confirmation on 11/8. As of yesterday, the game still has not shown up. I used their cheapest shipping option which is USPS (not sure if it's first class or media mail) and when ordering from them in the past I've always received my stuff in 3 days tops. I want my game!

Maybe it's because it's a high-demand title? Remember, this is launch AND Christmas seasons. Which means that Internet shopping is up. Which also means that the post office may be slower than usual too, due to higher volumes of shipping. Anyway, wait another week (just in case) before raising any hell.

I had Halo LE pre-ordered for $49.99 with free shipping from EB & decided to cancel it & pay more to get it the day of release so I wouldn't be at the mercy of the the retailer/USPS.
I say they shipped it media mail & you'll get it sometime this week.

Well, I couldn't wait to play it, so I went to CC and bought it. I got the regular Halo 2 (with free Halo 2 watch). I have been playing it all weekend--great game!! If and when the Halo 2 LE shows up, I will just leave it unopened--maybe worth something someday!?

If it has been a few weeks and have not received the game, just file a chargeback on the credit card.
A lawsuit over a $50 video game is just ludicrous.

Yeah no doubt. It would cost you more to sue than what you paid for the game.
That's what credit card chargebacks are for.

Yeah -- I'll jump up to defend the USPS right now too. I've used them for shipping with the GOAT Store now for about four years (my guess would be about 2500 packages shipped) and we have had ONE lost. Ever. Including overseas stuff.
We do ship Priority because of the fact that they give you the boxes for free (a big savings if you don't have access to tons of boxes) and it is very quick. To different countries is Airmail.
Just a comparison (I already saw and agree with the UPS one by the way) that I have with Fed Ex -- to ship a package to Canada using Fed Ex that contains 4 CDs cost $22.00 to ship in five days. The next day I shipped a package of two CDs with cases and a NES controller for $3.75 in three days with USPS.
USPS is my favorite company for both shipping and receiving stuff. They are so much easier and nicer, and I have never had any problems except for super, super long lines...

From my previous experiences with them, I suspect they have shipping/stocking issues with products. I won't explain why though.

You seem pretty sure it's overstock.com's fault, even though they have in their system that the package also shipped the same date you were told. It sounds to me like the problem is with the shipper/shipping method, and not the place you bought the game from. Having worked in customer service, I never understood why people got so bent out of shape at the company selling the product when there were shipping/delivery problems caused by the carrier that had nothing to do with the manufacturer/seller.

I don't even see the point of pre-ordering unlease you're getting a good deal in a lower price or some extras such as EB sometimes offers. I didn't pre-order Halo 2 and simply walked in my local Wal-Mart and picked it up the day it came out...
gamegirl79

I usually don't pre-order games online, the only reason I did this with Halo 2 was because I wasn't able to get to the store at all last week. It didn't matter though since I still haven't received the game. LOL Oh well, lesson learned....

Well I saved like 5 or 6 bucks going with Overstock--IT CERTAINLY WASN'T WORTH IT!! The frustration and aggravation cloud the savings. @_@

Katamari? Most stores only got one or two copies, people were having problems getting it even 3 weeks after it was released

Good reasons to preorder games (systems are a different story)
1) Cool extras
2) Huge game that you want to make sure to have RIGHT away
3) Tiny obscure game that a store might not even get if they don't have preorders.
Systems should be preordered in all cases if you want them.

OMG! I can't believe you still don't have yours. We were both in the same boat until I got mine last Tuesday. But let me tell you what I did.
I got sick of waiting for it so I picked it up at TRU last Sunday not knowing when Overstock was finally gonna pull through. That meant I got to finally play the game until my Overstock order showed. When the game finally came in on Tuesday, I took that unopened game and returned it to TRU. No harm, no foul.

I did buy it and am playing it--the regular version. The one from Overstock is the LE version. Noone in my area has any LE's left! I am most frustrated! But the game is great! (I got sick and tired of waiting for it to arrive, so I went out and bought it.)

That's just wrong to me. Why penalize TRU for something another store did? I just can't see myself ever pulling something like that.

I can see your point if it was for Catwoman, but on the contrary, they were happy to have another copy of Halo 2 to sell.
