My favorite christmas was when I got my n64. My mom bought Mario 64 for my birthday 14 days earlier and claimed that she thought it was for my genesis (I was like 7 at the time) and I believed her :embarrassed: . I was upset on christmas day because I thought I wasnt getting one, but sure enough it was the last present I got.
Ahh the memories.

Impossible to pick just one. For Christmas in:

1984 -- C64
1987 -- NES
1991 -- SNES

And then I bought myself a couple of Christmas gifts, like the PSX in 1997.

Definitely the old school 8 bit NES. Even though I got it close to 2 years after it came out, it was still awesome. I got it with Legend of Zelda and Punch Out. I was happy as hell for a LONG time afterwards.

I don't think I ever got a console for a Christmas present. I did, however, get my Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, and N64 as birthday presents from my mom. I have received numerous games as Christmas presents, though. If I remember correctly, I think I got Paper Mario from my mom and Ogre Battle 64 from my dad one Christmas. That was cool. :) I remember one Christmas when I was quite young, maybe 12, and my mom would always give my dad ideas for what to get me (and she was plenty clueless herself about what games I wanted, haha). She told him I liked Mario, so I ended up getting Super Mario Kart. :) At the time, I don't think I even knew of Mario Kart's existence, so it was a neat surprise. I sucked so much when I first played, hehe. I remember going all over the place, stuck in the sand, going in circles, man, I REALLY sucked. :P Oh, and I also got Donkey Kong Country 2 and 3 on each respective Christmas after they came out from my grandma (and she got me the first one on the day it was released). She's just the sweetest woman. :)

Here is mine.

I'm not real sure of the year but it was just as the Atari Crash was starting.

We were fairly well off, better than most, as my step-dad was an officer in the Air Force. Well things weren't perfect with them and they divorced just after christmas.

So from riches to rags.

We really struggled to make ends meet through that year and as christmas rolled around again we had no money for gifts. We had a small plastic tree, a few decorations and no lights. Mom and I went to the grocery store to pick up a couple of tv dinners for christmas day and a few other items. Well they just happened to be having a blow out sale Atari carts. Everything was $5.00. I knew things were tight so I just looked while she shopped. Being Christmas Eve people were grabbing games faster than you would believe, I watched them all fly by. I noticed a single Miner 2049'er that people just passed up and I really wanted it. We just didn't have the money.

We left and headed home. Once at home I guess my mom started to feel bad about not having anything for me for christmas and asked if there was a game that I saw that I wanted.

"Yes", I said, "but we don't have the money".

She, didn't say much more for awhile.

About an hour later she told me to get my coat on we forgot something at the store.

You can guess the rest, with a slight twist at the end. Miner 2049'er was not there. Instead I got Fathom and I played that game for days on end until I finally beat it. I don't know exactly what it was but that game, it was a turning point in my life. It led to computers and to the games there and many steps later to a career with computers today. I also run fan sites for games from time to time, when one catches my attention. The last one was Planet Dungeon Siege.

Rob Fulop, if you read this, I know you didn't care for Fathom. Just know that your game made a significant impact on at least one person. Enough of an effect, to point a child in the direction of his future.

So my quest, my holy grail, is a mint, sealed Fathom, which I hope to have signed by Rob. I refuse to buy a loose Fathom cart, till I get one...

Strangely, my most memorable Christmases come in my pre-console days, back in days of the humble ZX Spectrum. One year (presumably 1982) my brother and I were given our first spectrum (the rubber-keyed variety) and a handful of games including one of the best versions of Scrabble ever. Then the next Christmas (I think!) we were given another - the Spectrum+. Little did we know that it was basically the same spec of computer but in a more robust case. Stlil.. some very fond memories - particularly loading up Daley Thompson's Decathlon in the small hours of Xmas morning. :)

Either the Christmas I got my Genesis with a handfull of games the only game i remember being Eternal Champions and me and my Brother got Santas moneys worth out of Eternal Champions.

Or when I got my snes the next year (maybe 2 years after I got the Genesis) Because we got the SNES I got Killer Instinct, Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda Link to the past then my grandmother bought me Donkey Kong Country 3. So many hours spent playing these games.

Oh were to begin! I think I'll start when my brothers and I got our SNES and Genesis the same Christmas. Oh talking about who's going to play what with who. When we got our dad to hook up both systems on different tvs we hardly spoke. All you heard coming from the bedroom and living room was the sounds of Super Mario World and Sonic. I also remember getting Donkey Kong Country 2 the next year. My birthday is on the 23rd of December so when the N64 came out thats the only thing I wanted for my birthday or Christmas. So when my dad got home that night on my birthday my mom brought out 2 things. A small present and a big present. Of course I went for the big one first and opened it and it was a N64 with 2 controllers. One controler was grey and the other one was a transparent purple color. Then after jumping up and down with joy I opened the second present and it was Star Wars Rogue Squadron. I got my dad to hook up the N64 and I played Rogue Squadron till around 11pm that night. Then on Christmas morning, well I really don't remember that Christmas cause I had so much joy on my birthday 2 days earlier. lol

I honestly do not remember if I got my SNES or Genesis on x-mas, so I guess the next best thing would be the N64. It was the x-mas after it was released, but I had made it clear that I wanted one. It was a gift to 'The Boys' (being me and my brother) but we both knew who would play it more. The only game we got with it was Starfox 64 with the rumble pack, and it amazed us. A favorite on the SNES around that time was Starfox, and my parents were smart enough to figure out that there was an N64 version.

The year after that, I got my PSX, and that was completely unexpected. My rents completely forgot about getting a game, but she did manage to pick up that months OPM so I had some demos to screw with. Its funny, she bought it a couple days before x-mas, and when I was going through the bags I saw the magazine and asked why she had bought it. She said it was for our cousin (who we were visiting later x-mas day). I believed her. (Again with the gullible kids!)

The year after THAT I got one of those Cybiko things. Although I see how bad they are now, at the time I thought I was the ruler of everyone. I remembered that there was 2 other kids in my school with them, and we would use them to talk to eachother while in class, and it was the most amazing thing ever. Only if we knew that in 04 you would be able to play games further away wirelessly with better graphics then the N64! (talking about DS of course). If I dont end up buying a DS for myself (I'm sure I will...) I'm getting that for this X-mas. Having a job really takes back on the surprizes of getting consoles, because if I wanted it, I could save up two weeks pay and buy it =P

Christmas 1992.

For the past two years I had played nothing but NES, I had amassed a collection of 30 games and had mastered SMB3 (which i still could do after 9 years of not touching the game). The summer of 1992 i had just moved to a new town and i was in the local grocery store when i thumbed through a game magazine and gazed upon the most amazing screenshot i had ever seen in my life. Vibrant green grass and the most amazing corkscrew ever to grace a video game.

I knew i had to own this game.

Fall rolls around and I am all set to get the re-released NES classics...Metroid, Zelda 1+2. It is to the point that my mom has bought the games and has them in her room (she showed me them to make sure they were the correct ones). In October & early November and i start seeing these ads for "Sonic 2" on TV and i realize thats the game i saw that summer and i REALLY want this game.

One day my mom and I are at Target and I do the usual hanging about in the Electronics section. My mom finds me after looking for who-knows-what and i believe i mention something about wishing I had a Genesis and this new Sonic 2 game. Out of nowhere she tells me shes going to get me that Genesis and Sonic game but i'd have to give up the NES games. I was shocked because i didnt have to beg of plead and she didnt give me that "you already have a chirstmas present" speech.

Xmas came and i reveled in Sonic goodness and kicked off a year of increased interest in video games and a continuing obcession to this day. :)

I have always gotten atleast one thing worth noting on christmas every year. Though I guess the 3 things that stoud out the most were... my nes in 86,snes in 91 and getting a brand spanking new copy of chrono trigger in 95. The chrono trigger I was especially pleased with, seeing as how I was having some doubts as for asking for it, seeing as how I just got a brand new sega saturn that same year for my birthday. Though I'm glad I decided to go thre with that , mostly because the game is a bitch to find complete anywhere you look.

I never received any videogames for Christmas. :(

However, I do remember fondly the Christmas of 85 when I got my Transformers (it was Thrust, the burgundy Decepticon jet). Actually, I still have that Transformer. :D

SNES for Christmas 1992.

I opened it about 6 days early - I just couldn't wait. I nagged, I nagged I nagged and I nagged and then I nagged and I nagged and then I nagged and then nagged and then nagged some more. It didn't work so I nagged and then nagged and then nagged *takes breath* and then nagged and then nagged and then nagged...

My poor mother just gave in. Jeez, I was a jerk... couldn't even wait a few weeks for Christmas. Oh well. I played Street Fighter II for 16 hours a night until Christmas and well beyond it. I played the hell out of that thing.

Probably the Christmas of 2000... I wanted a PS2 so badly, and so did everyone else. It was a hot seller on its launch, despite a lack of good launch titles. I figured that they'd make up for it over the years, though, and I assumed correctly, so I wanted one greatly. Lamentably, me mum and bro kept telling me that most stores didn't have them, and I'd have to expect not getting one. I tried not to, but such a disappointment it would be regardless. A wistful-eyed version of myself noticed a box underneath the Christmas tree on Dec. 25, and I expected it to be a new PS1, since my older one was broken. It could still play games, but the graphics were messed up. A new PS1 would be nice, but a PS2 would have been even better. This I thought as I undid the wrapping on the big box, when what should be underneath it all...

... but a brand new PS2. *awwwwwwwwwwww* :)

Heh, I could have cried right then and there. My mom's good at keeping secrets. Good Christmas, that one was. Of course, it broke down a year and a half later, but it's the sentiment that counts, eh? LOL

My big X-mas was getting Atari Space Invaders and Asteroids on the same day. 1980 I guess..'81?

Here's what I can remember getting as Christmas gifts:

-Chip N Dale's Rescue Rangers for NES. I spent a lot of time playing it and it eventually became the first video game I ever beat. Sadly, I don't have the game, let alone an NES, anymore.

-I also got Kings Of The Beach and TMNT II: The Arcade Game for NES on separate occasions, but I honestly can't remember whether those were Christmas gifts of just birthday gifts. TMNT was fun but I never beat it. I didn't play Kings Of The Beach too much but a round of Volleyball was a nice diversion whenever I got bored with the other 4 or 5 games I owned. I don't own those games anymore, either.

-Donkey Kong Country for SNES in 1994. My mom even preordered the game at Babbages and got a t-shirt, which she gave to me along with the game. I remember wearing the shirt to school when winter break ended. DKC was another one I couldn't put down. I had a close call when I let a kid down the street borrow it one day and he moved a week later. But about a month later he showed up at my door one day and gave it back to me. About a year after that I traded it off for $20 and a box of basketball cards, something I should have never done. I never got the $20, but the kid I traded it to eventually gave me Super Mario RPG for free to make up for it., so that wasn't too bad. I finally bought another copy of DKC last year.

-Donkey Kong Country 3 for SNES, and I'm guessing it was the year it came out. Played this one nearly to the end, but still have yet to complete it to this day. The original copy got lost and I replaced it last year. Oddly enough, I found the manual that came with the original copy not too long ago.

-Yoshi's Island for SNES. Don't remember the year but it was probably the same year it came out. Still have it to this day, but the box and manual are long gone. I remember playing all the way to level 2-6 on Christmas day.

-Zelda: Ocarina Of Time for N64. I remember trying out the game for the first time and being completely amazed. And I'll never forget going out onto Hyrule field for the first time. About 6 months later, my save file corrupted when I had just gotten to the temple in Gerudo valley. You could still access the other two files on the cart, but the third, and my game, was gone forever. I gave the cart to my brother when I got the Zelda Collector's Edition for GC.

-A small duffel bag that consisted of about 10 loose SNES games and a Super Scope. I think everything was found at a thrift store. I don't remember all the games I got, but here's what I can: The 7'th Saga, Eye Of The Beholder, Wolfenstein 3D, Actraiser, Mechwarrior 3050, Demon's Crest, Mortal Kombat 3, Killer Instinct, Secret Of Evermore, Super Star Wars, Drakken, and some game that was compatible with the Super Scope (can't remember the name). Unfortunately, the Super Scope was missing a piece so I never played it. A few of these I regrettably traded or sold off a year or so later and bought again this year. The only three I don't own today are the super scope game, Drakken, Eye Of The Beholder (which I never intend to own again, AWFUL game), The 7'th Saga (which was a little too hard, but I'd pick it up again on the cheap), and Secret Of Evermore (I loved that game and I don't know why I got rid of it. It's very high on my SNES want list). This is still my favorite video game Christmas gift to this day. I'd be surprised if I ever got that many games as a gift ever again. I still have the picture my mom took of me when I opened it that captures the excitement on my face when I saw how many games were in there.

-Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy for PS2. Great game I spent a lot of time playing. Still have the original copy, and I think it's the first Christmas video game gift that I actually kept the box and manual for. LOL

Christmas of '93, when I got a combined present from everyone of my relatives. What was this present? What my parents called the 'Sega legacy contained in one very big box.'

52 genesis games, 49 gamegear games, and 63 sega master system games.

Sorry to hear that. :(

-When I got Atari 2600 Demon Attack & my mom left the $30 price tag on it.
-When I asked for Atari 2600 Dig Dug AND Popeye- then I saw a screenshot of Popeye & decided I didnt want it- but got it anyway!
-When I was at a friends house in 6th grade & he showed me where his parents hid 2600 games for Xmas- I recall seeing Frogger & Pitfall.
-not gaming related but my parents had a Lego gas station set I'd asked for in a bag in their room- every day before school I'd go in & just look at it.
-Xmas 2000 after standing in line on PS2 Launch Day & getting the store's next-to-the-last PS2, I could finally open & play it!

Christmas 1989. All I wanted for Christmas was a Gameboy, but my parents had me convinced that they were sold out everywhere. I prepared myself for just getting some toys or something, but sure enough "Santa" left a Gameboy(with Tetris) and Super Mario Land for me on Christmas. Best Christmas... ever.

Now that I think about it, that was truly my first video game system, all the others had belonged to my siblings, and I just used them more than they did.

Christmas of 1989 for me for one since that was when I first got my NES and finally jumpe dto the modern world of gaming, so to speak.

I forget the year now, but my 2nd most was getting a SNES after my parents insited I wouldn't get one.

I remember getting the SNES for Xmas (probably the first Xmas it was available). Of course that was the one thing I wanted that year. I was disappointed after opening all the gifts under the tree and not getting the SNES :( My mom then asked me and my sister to go get something in her room. My sister and I both knew what that meant and so we ran towards my parents bedroom and sitting on the table outside the bedroom were three more gifts. You could tell what it was right away... an SNES and 2 games (Final Fight was one of the games and F Zero was the other I think). Good stuff. Seems like parents fooling kids into thinking they couldn't find the one thing they wanted is pretty common. I'm sure I'll do the same to my kids someday. LOL

Getting my "Home Game Arcade" super gun about 5 years ago (Wow I'm getting old) was also very memorable since it helped start my arcade addiction.
