I look forward to spending my $180 on it on Sunday morning.

Same here. Well, I look forward to spending my $240+ for:
DS
Ridge Racer
Rayman DS
Mario 64

Everything is already ALL paid for. I am still thinking of getting Asphlat Urban GT by Ubisoft. If they have any extra copies in. Doubt I will get that one too though.

I think it's cool that a system is coming out on a weekend day though. They always are during the week. Which is fine, it's just during the weekend there is more time to play it for the first time. Sunday is cool, but Saturday would have been better.

I've been meaning to mention this, but if there were one more N64 port I would KILL to see made, it'd be the original N64 Top Gear Rally. COMPLETE with custom paint and artwork and damage. I logged a LOT of hours in that game back in the day. And with the DS, you could REALLY customize the paintjob. KILL I say! Plus, it was the first racing game (Excluding Mario Kart) I really got into. Plus, the weather effects kicked serious ass back then. I still think the puddles and reflections look realistic today. So whoever owns the rights to that game, PLEASE remake it!

If i thought i could get one later, i would wait. I would prefer my DS green, personally. Ill just have to settle on silver :embarrassed: I hope they dont improve on it and release newer versions like the PS2, XBOX, GBA all did...

Personally, I'm surprised they haven't offered new colors now. I mean, the Cube and GBA's all came initially in multiple colors. A single one seems odd..

Erm.. that's standard Nintendo procedure. Release in one drab color initially. Release in black later. Then release in multiple rainbow colors and themes (Like a "Metroid" or maybe even a SMB themed version).

..Since it's launch time, we're still in "drab silver" marketing stage ;)

GC had two colors
GBA had three

They're regressing now ;) Going for the more adult feel, definitely.

SOmebody might have mentioned it, but I missed it if they did- I love the cases! SLIGHTLY wider (side to side when looking at the front) than a jewel case and about 50% thicker back to front. Hard clamshell :) No disconnectable hinge, like a jewel case has.

Very nice cases :)

Didn't the GC only get first released in the "PURPLE" color??

I as well like the cases!

Whoa wait a min. I hope its not the same people who were complaining about Nintendos lack of title quantities that are complaining about all the remakes of old games on the GBA. Like all the mario games seperate. I think its great to have so many options.

My gripe is lack of quality *NEW* titles. Quantity doesnt mean squat when its made up of ports.

I think options are great too. I can buy 4 games for $30 and one for $20 or I can track down two SNES games and pay far less than $150 for basically the same thing.

I totally agree! I can never get in on release day madness because I work 8am-5pm Monday-Friday, and most everything comes out on Tuesdays. I look forward to this weekend release day. I'll be at EB right at 11am on Sunday!! :D

Nope, black and purple. I have a black one from the launch.

I believe the ds is only launching with one two toned color is to boost production of the hardware - Since, thier is such a big demand for DS in NA and Japan, probably a wise decision. But the silver and black DS is pretty nice though... and definitly expect to see alot more colors coming out sometime next year, im guessing similar to the SP.

If this talk is true (http://www.cube-europe.com/news.php?nid=6653) You don't release a system around the same time and with a competitive price and not know the systems are going to compete

I'm not a Ninterdo hater, but i really have to question Nintendo's motives.

Hmmh Nintendo is going to do whatever it is they are going to do regardless of what you can call it. Questioning motives is going to make a *** load of difference as well. You might as well fast forward the bs and either buy something or choose to buy something else, or choose both, or none at all. You see my point. ;)

I'd prefer Saturday, because it's tomorrow, and I'll have more time to play my DS before I have to go to school, but oh well. It is what it is.

I guess you could say I got lucky. BECAUSE, if I could choose any color for a system it would be either silver or black. (I still like other colors, like the RED ONYX GBA SP) But silver and black, even though they might be the commom colors, they fit right with the launch release of a system.

By the way man, AWESOME signature picture!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks "nintendoman", I was initially hoping for sick looking two toned flame and onyx (black and red) color but I do like the silver and black - perfect launch color in my opinion. Can't wait to pick up my DS this sunday !

Oh yeah, I like other colors too, but in my opinion with the launch of a system, I think game companies should just go the safe route and make it silver or black. Just my opinion. :)

I have to question the validity of most of those fan reviews, given that officially and by most first-hand reports the system itself isn't for sale yet ... :hmm:

Yeah, that one right there's a big head-scratcher. I'm getting SMDS at launch, for the simple reason that I have never gotten more then three stars (*Braces self*) in the original SM64.

On the colour issue, I think that, down the line (Think: Ten years), the original silver (platinum?) make of the DS will become somewhat of a rarity compaired to the rainbow of colours that will come along later, because, despite the poherthia(sp?) of preorders, there are millions more still in speculation that will buy it later, and, most likely, in different colours. Also note, that many of the themed (NES) and coloured (Onyx and Flame, or whatever it's called) SP's are limited edition and were launched a year after the system was.

I have to admit the first time I heard about this I wasn't inititally impressed, but when I found out about the magic game or whatever with all the weird minigames I was intrigued. They are actually comingout with a dating game. Lots of nice weird adult games I see, very good Nintendo. Mario 64DS looks very good, and of course the new Warioware.

I think I'll pass this up for the PSP though. Beefy's GBA SP is doing him just fine.

Only three stars?? You must have just played with your eyes closed. :D

I don't think that some people realize that Mario64 DS is not just a port of the N64 game. Of course most people know there are new characters to play with, new levels and more stars, lots of single and multiplayer minigames, and a bunch of little things like the pics in the castle looking different or reworked.
I can't wait for this one! It's the most wanted game by me next to the new SMB.

I'll get one when Metroid or Mario Kart is released. Those are the two games that I really want. Mario 64 is nice and all but I played the hell out of the 64 version. I know new levels and such but I can't spend that much for a game that I have played many times before.

Mario 64 DS is the freaking bob-omb.

Not that I've personally played it, but that GameSpot review I posted makes it pretty clear that Super Mario 64 DS is a port, with some additions. In fact, they make that point several times in the review. Either you haven't played the game or you have a different idea of what constitutes a "port".
