Do they exist? It could be ranging in complexity from the original PSO or Diablo 2 to something like Everquest. Whatever. I just want to know if there's something good out there I've been missing. And it would be something else for us IRC folks to obsess over. Heh.

Diablo II and it's expansion, which you mentioned, support multiplayer though Battle.net. Also, Neverwinter Nights (http://nwn.bioware.com/about/macversion.html) apparently has a multiplayer component, but I've never played the game myself. You might want to consult the GameRanger games page (http://www.gameranger.com/games/). There seem to be some RPGs listed on there.

Neat, but I see no OS X version.

I second Neverwinter Nights and its 2 official expansion packs plus all the modules out there. In fact, with NWN, you can play against PCs without any problem (contrarily to Baldur's Gate).

Actually, the only drawback to NWN on the Mac is that the Aurora toolset is missing, so you can't create your own modules. However, the DM tool is there so you can setup an online multiplayer DM'd game.

I just started playing NWN (in the solo campaign) and it runs pretty smoothly, even on a computer relatively underpowered (I played on a G3 800MHz iBook that badly needs more RAM... yet I didn't notice much problems running it).

NWN is great for the replay flexibility that it offers, which is much greater than the average RPG has. http://nwn.bioware.com/

Hmm, NWN definitely looks promising, but I'm not about to pay $50 for a game that's roughly $6 for the PC version according to CompUSA. Perhaps when the price comes down. I'll add this one to my vulture list. Heh.

You can get it at $40 new at one of the merchants on amazon.com:

And I can tell you that it's worth every penny EVEN if it's more expensive than the PC version.

Yes, but you must account for the fact that I'm a filthy cheap bastard. Ha ha. If it hits $30, I'll bite.

Yeah but when you're on a Mac your choices are severely limited. So it's NWN or nothing, pretty much.

OS X is cool and sleek, but they'll never capture the mainstream until they corner the games market. Games drive a lot of hardware sales.
