Best Game Beginning/Endings

So, what games do you all think have the best/coolest/most impressive intros and endings?

Here are a few of my favs:

Intros--

Parasite Eve - Very engrossing, pulls you in to the story right from the beginning, and a killer music score as well.

Captain Quazar - A Rap video for a video game intro is just TOO cool!

Endings--

Final Fantasy III - I think its 3, it had liek a 35 minute ending that is just kick-ass

Radiant Silvergun's ending was great as it was both sad and happy at the same time.

Chrono Cross' intro movie is far better than the actual game.

I've also always had a soft spot for the beginning of FFVII. The little mood-setting movie, then the sudden disembarkment from the train and infiltration into the Mako factory...very well done.

Wild ARMs had a wonderful intro movie. Great song too.

I kinda like Pac-Man. Quick song, the word READY! and then it cuts the crap and lets you play the game. ;)

OK, OK, seriously, I have a real live nomination this time around. I thought the intro to PS1 Space Invaders by Activision was pretty darn spiffy.

Ridge Racer Type 4 is my favorite game intro. Right around then and for about a year before hand, having an awesome intro to PS1 games was almost essential.

Actually, the ending to SNK's Search and Rescue is kinda like that. Silly.

Let's see...SNK game...zombies and wierd shit...nhilistic ending (haven't seen Beast Busters' ending yet)...oh yeah :)

Speaking of intros, though...one of my favorites is SAR's :)

Mega Man 2...sweet intro...awesome ending

My favorite intro was FF3(6j). It was played out the way a film would be, and back then I thought that was just the coolest thing.
My favorite ending has to be Soul Blazer. I really loved going back to see how all the creatures get on after you left them. I alos loved the very very end with you and Lisa and Turbo.
That was one of the few endings where I truly felt satisfied.

The Onimusha games have excellent intros. I haven't played the third game yet but I am betting the intro is nice.

the ending to sonic CD was cool to, a short anime like video of sonic blowing everything up. lol

Bionic Commando

Fits in nicely for best intro and best ending on any system... Well 8-bit system anyway. I mean, FF7 it ain't, but c'mon... It's pretty danged sweet.

I second that. Anyways, chrono trigger has the whole package, 12 ending and one amazing intro. Who could forget the first time they ever played that game and watching the intro after the bell scene? The music, the graphics, I knew I was in for a treat after watching that.

ff3 (ff6) does have an awesome beggining, but i havent seen the ending yet.
same with ff7. my favorite beginning however would be ff10 hands down. i had just gotten my ps2, and that game had just came out, so i bought it, went home and got to see this amazing CG scene. the whole thing is just so awesome that i want to go watch it right now 8-)
other good endings/beginings: Metal Gear Solid. the whole beginning was just like a movie, with the credits going as you're playing

Indeed. Robot makes the best FMV. They did an amazing job on Baten Kaitos's intro too. Too bad that hiring the team costs so much that they couldn't afford to put any other FMV sequences in Baten Kaitos. :P

The Intro To Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2 Is awesome and really gets you into playing the game.

You nailed it - when I saw this topic title, C&C: Red Alert was the first game game that came to mind. I actually watched the intro twice before starting my first game - it's that good.

For real old school arcade - I gotta admit, the beginning of Donkey Kong is still one of my favorites

I think Altered Beast has to be given credit for having one of the most classic intros ever. Actually, both the attract mode intro and the intro when you start playing are awesome.

Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2 will alwyas be favorites of mine. Their intros rocked and they both had probably the best endings in NES history....top 5 anyway.

OK, so it's not the most dramatic intro in the history of gaming, but what great phrasing!

I'll second Ninja Gaiden II for Best. Intro. Ever. The ending isn't too shabby either.

Still sticking with what was essentially the ending for Super Metroid....

It's becase of that ending that there's been an interest in fleshing out the whole Metroid storyline. Think about it.

Opening- For the PCE CD, Dracula X was always my Favorite. And Tales of Phantasia for the Super Famicom was awesome. who would of thought a MP3 for an opening for SFC LOL, Ninja Gaiden 1 intro and music was awesome.

Eternal Darkness ending was awesome. Ikaruga even sad was a good ending.

Ys books on turbo duo is pretty damn special

for movies soul reaver had one hell of a long pretty opener

for action medal of honor rising sun's pearl harbor is pretty damn amazing

I'm surprised at how many other people liked the opening to FF8. It was a great opening -- and it helps I really like the game. ;) The ending was pretty good also.

FF4 and 6 also had very good endings.

The Ninja Gaiden games also had good openings and endings, as previously mentioned. Metal Gear Solid had a good ending.

Yeah, that was a really good ending. I didn't like the game at all, but I still greatly enjoyed the ending. o_O
