I was informed that this title was released. So I went to my local EB (gamestop doesn't seem to be selling this game unfortunately), and managed to snag a copy. The game is excellent, and gets pretty hectic in the later stages. Only 10 bucks and has the funniest engrish I have seen in a video game yet *Is reminded of the excel saga recap episode where they make fun of engrish* Anyone else pick this title up? If so what are your thoughts on it. Also for those that have already imported it from the other systems, what are your opinions?

I bought the JPN DC version a while ago (man... like 7 or 8 months ago actually) and I agree -- fun game. I quite like it. Throw your TV on it's side and play it in TATE mode for the full effect!

Anyone know if/when the US X-Box version will be out? I check their site the other day, nothing new :/

So many different versions of this game. What is different from Mobile Light Force 2?

Support XS Games!

I believe they took out all story elements, cut scenes etc from the release and called it Mobile Light Force 2 instead of Castle Shikigami 2.

At least thats what they did for Mobile Light Force 1 for the PS. Its weird how they did it, whenever a scene should happen there is just a 1 second pause of gameplay, then it continues as normal. Still a fun game though.

And I agree - Support XS Games!

good game but a bit bland. I've got the DC and the cube releases. The soundtrack that came with the limited vesion is great. Im surprised that they didnt call it mobile light force 2 like they did with the original. Man that was some BAD cover artwork, kinda looked like charlies angels.

Number 2 is alot better then the original. I got the pc demo version and it was very slow. The bst character has tobe the girl with the bird cause here special attack obsorbs orange bullets

Mobile Light Force 2 was a translation of Shikigami No Shiro, or if you prefer, Castle Shikigami 1. Therefore, this new release (Castle Shikigami 2) AFAIK is the sequel to the game released in the U.S. as Mobile Light Force 2.

The only reason that XS Games called the game (Castle Shikigami 1) by the name Mobile Light Force 2 was (I guess) because they were trying to get some sort of 2-D shooter marketing synergy going. Mobile Light Force (1) was a translation of the game released in Japan as Gunbird, which has nothing to do with either Shikigami No Shiro game other than that all of three are 2-D vertical shooters. If XS Games were releasing Castle Shikigami 2 in the U.S., they would no doubt call it Mobile Light Force 3 instead.

I know that all of this is confusing, but it's hardly the first time that U.S. releases of Japanese games have led to confusion in numbering. Strikers 1945 (U.S., Playstation, Agetec) is the game released in Japan as Strikers 1945 II for the Saturn and Playstation. Apparently this was done because there were no plans to bring the Japanese Strikers 1945 (1) to the U.S., and Agetec didn't want people to think that they should avoid buying the second game in the series until they could get the (never released in the U.S.) first game.

And then there's the whole Final Fantasy numbering fiasco. 3=6? WTF? @_@

To summarize:

JPN Gunbird = U.S. Mobile Light Force
JPN Shikigami No Shiro = Castle of Shikigami (1) = U.S. Mobile Light Force 2
JPN Shikigami No Shiro 2 = U.S. Castle of Shikigami 2
JPN Strikers 1945 = Not released in the U.S.
JPN Strikers 1945 II = U.S. Strikers 1945
JPN Final Fantasy 6 = U.S. Final Fantasy 3

Any questions?

I picked this up the other day. It seems a decent shooter so far, even though, like the original Shikigami, it's hard to see what's going on unless you run the game in screen-tilting TATE mode. XS Games seems to have made few changes in localization, aside from dubbing the conversation scenes with some of the most hysterical voice-overs ever. Imagine lines like these read by "actors" who clearly have no idea what they're saying.

"I pay taxes and vote. This fight is for Japan. For friendship."

"Are you a Transference? A woman who needs a leisurely life. What? Let's go!"

Comedy.

JPN Gunbird = U.S. Mobile Light Force
JPN Shikigami No Shiro = Castle of Shikigami (1) = U.S. Mobile Light Force 2
JPN Shikigami No Shiro 2 = U.S. Castle of Shikigami 2
JPN Strikers 1945 = Not released in the U.S.
JPN Strikers 1945 II = U.S. Strikers 1945
JPN Final Fantasy 6 = U.S. Final Fantasy 3

Any questions?

HOW MUCH IS A BOXED DINO RIKI WORTH AND WHAT ARE THE GOODS AND BADS FOR THE PLAYDIA?

Also, why have you forsaken your Gradius avatar, now that Gradius V is out?

I'm not so sure about that. It was fairly easy to find new copies of Mobile Light Force 2 (the prequel to Castle Shikigami 2) for months after it was released.

Thanks for the information, I picked a copy up at EB as well. (they had one copy)

I think the game will never see the light of day for the Xbox in the US. It was already some time ago released for the Xbox in Japan.

What? XS Games localized this without calling it "Mobile Light Force 3"? What about the continuity?

Dino Riki is OMG RARE and worth a million rainbows, even more if boxed. Also, the Playdia is teh best. No bads there. How dare you even suggest that there are bads? :hmm:

And I have temporarily abandoned my Gradius avatar because I am in the grip of a serious Steel Battalion: Line of Contact online addiction. Since everybody is quitting to play GAYLO TOO!!1!, though, have no fear. Vic will soon be back.
