Im in the mood for a sports title to play on my NES. I have 5 baseball games, and im very sick of them. Im looking for some fun soccer , hocky,or wrestling games...(or pretty much anything but baseball :hmm: )
I like a two player game, but are any fun for their one player expirience?
There are many sports titles to choose from for a buck around here, any ideas?

Ice Hockey, Blades of Steel, Super Spike V-Ball/Nintendo World Cup (get yourself a Four Score or a Satellite for that one).
Any of these would be great games to pick up.

I second Blades of Steel. And if you like football, you can't go wrong with Tecmo Bowl, although some people may argue that Super Tecmo Bowl is superior.

I highly recommend Tecmo World Cup Soccer, dont get it confused with Tecmo World Cup (that RPG soccer game)

Those are my favourites
-Ice Hockey. Blades of Steel is very good, but not as Ice Hockey
-Nintendo World Cup (Kunio soccer? Woah!)
-Super Dodgeball, one of the most addictive Nes games
-Nes Open if you like Golf
-Tecmo Super Bowl, I´ve never watched a real match, but I love that game
-Punch Out, a classic
-Double Dribble, best basket game on the system
-Goal 2 is the best soccer game

Not to be a useless poster, but everyone should really have a copy of either Tecmo Bowl or Tecmo Super Bowl. I despise sports games, but they are just so good. Bo Jackson was the man in Tecmo Super Bowl. I it may have been the first console football game to have players with different attributes. Adds a whole lot to the simple, fast paced arcade play of the game. You need to be able to handle a little flicker though. Make that a lot of flicker. Par for the course.
I think everyone has pretty much hit all the bases. There aren't very many good sports titles for the NES. Baseball was done the best and most often (I think). The mechanics of the game are well suited to the medium and baseball is very, very big in Japan. I love the simplicity of the original Nintendo Baseball. Stinks that baseball is what you are tired of.
I will mention Pro Wrestling game as my recommendation. Fun stuff, especially with a friend. I would avoid the WWF games in general though. They are pretty terrible.
Tennis is a pretty decent game too. It constantly amazes me that the simple early Nintendo lineup had so many good titles.
I guess I do like some sports games. My friends just Madden-ed and NHL-ed me out in the 16 bit era.

Tecmo World Wrestling (awesome game...first wrestling game to use story/cinema scenes afaik).
Punch Out!
Super Dodge Ball--CRAZY game...I always thought it was funny that you basically had to kill the other players to win.
And everyone has always told me Tecmo Bowl, but I've never gotten around to playing it. Basically, everyone who hates sports games still loves Tecmo Bowl.

Super Dodge Ball as mentioned by so many others. I cant stress enough that this game is fun against the computer or another opponent.
Tecmo Bowl and Super Tecmo Bowl are awesome. And Super Tecmo saved your stats !
Ice hockey is a great game to play against friends. Blades of Steel is fun vs. human or cpu.
Pro Wrestling is another game the rocks against the cpu or human.
Thats all I can think of at the moment , but there are tons of great sports games on the nes !
Edit : Ring King is a great boxing game ;)

As mentioned earlier, there've been 43523454 baseball games for the nes, I'm not sure if you've tried Bad News Baseball, but that was my favorite out of the many that I've tried. I still go back and play that every now and then.

Tecmo Super Bowl is just so much better than the original Tecmo Bowl. ALL teams, battery save, improved/tweaked game engine (field goals make more sense in this), more plays to choose from, injuries, etc...
Tecmo Bowl had a R.B.I. Baseball kind of 'Season' whereas Tecmo Super Bowl had your standard NFL schedule/playoffs...

BASE WARS!!! Super fun to run around the bases with robots and fighting your way to a home run.
Ice Hockey was good, RBI Baseball was good way back then.
Don't be fooled with Fighting Golf like I was! There is no fighting whatsoever!

"Baseball Stars" had better not be one of those five baseball games that you're "very sick of."
'Cause if it is, I'm coming over to your house, lighting your NES on fire, and heaving it through your living room window.
Best.
Sports.
Game.
Ever.

It's nearly identical to the NES version. Just more detail to the grass (multi-colored green dots instead of one solid green), and updated rosters/new animations (like when you get a touchdown or a sack). I also believe that they added downing the ball in the end zone which wasn't in the NES one (you had to run, or else you'd get a safety against you. :) TSB2 and TSB3 are different than these two games. It took a while for me to even like those, though I do now... Just my copy of TSB3 is ultra buggy and have to reset and reply a game at least once or twice a season because it'll freeze on you. Grrrrrrrrr.

If you consider racing to be a sport, then I can't recommend Micro Machines highly enough. Two player mode is fantastic and, if you enjoy a good challenge, 1 player mode is great too.
Best. Unlicensed. Game. Evar.
