Despite that I've owned several for a few years, I've barely played them. My boyfriend has always been the huge Mega Man freak, so I'd just watch him. But a couple days ago, for no apparent reason, he said "Play Mega Man X!", and I had nothing better to do so I said "Okay!" and started playing. o_O I played through all the normal stages at once, and then today I played through the final stages. It was really fun. :) I'm glad I finally lost my Mega Man virginity, hehe. I just felt like sharing that accomplishment. :)

If you want to try out another Mega Man, check out Mega Man X7 for the PS2. Very easy.

I can beat Mega Man 1,2,3,5,6 for the NES with ease, but for some reason Mega Man 4 seems impossible. I even tried reading online for clues and such, but I still couldn't beat it. Anyways , good job on beating Mega Man X !!! :P

I don't know if I'm going to play another one right away, but my boyfriend is hassling me to play X2. :P But I know if I beat that one, he'd just tell me to play X3 and X4 on PlayStation and so on, hehe. :)

Great to hear it!!! Now go play megaman 3!!! That's easily the best one. However, try 'em all! I've still yet to play a megaman game I didn't love.

"I don't know if I'm going to play another one right away, but my boyfriend is hassling me to play X2"
You're lucky that your bf is hassling you to play video games and not play with something else all the time. LOL
If you are looking for another Mega Man game to play , I would go with either 2 or 3. Personally MM2 is my favorite , but only because I have such fond memories of playing it as a kid. MM3 is just as fun , and I think it's a little easier too.

Mega Man 3's the one that's easy to me.
I think that one is the easiest, also. Though it is my favorite. Dr Wily's Castle is just super easy. Hardest part in the game is the Doc Robot stages, more specifically QUICK MAN. He's insanely fast, and I always have to use an energy tank LOL ]
2 is easy for me as well as 6. Haven't beat 1, 4, or 5. I think I was really close on 5 as well as 1...I could probably beat them if I felt like it. #4 I am not very good at, then again I didn't really like the controls on that one (it's that damn 'arm cannon'!).
Mega Man X is very easy though there are two things I can't seem to do. Get that one energy pellet or whatever in the ICE stage that you can't reach with a double jump. I haven't figured that out. Also, I haven't been Sigma. I believe you fight his cat or dog first, and I got through that, but something with Sigma I never beat. I think I came close.
All the other X series games I find really frustrating.

I still think that the Hadouken in MMX is the coolest, though a pain to get sometimes.
I was absolutley obsessed with anything related to Megaman when I was younger. I'm still a hardcore fan even today.
I beat each of the NES games, and picked them all up upon their original releases. Megaman 3 still being the most epic I think. But I think that the begining of Megaman 5 is pretty dam good too ("Protoman!?")
I think that the first Megaman game for gameboy was released around the same time that Megaman 4 was released on the NES. Was it just me or was that Megaman Hunter guy in the first GB game just fucking impossible!? I could never beat him! (the guy with the sword). I picked up the other regular GB games, but never got nearly as into them as the console games.
The gamegear Megaman game is pretty rare. But the graphics are very odd and it just doesnt seem Megaman enough for me. The same thing for Megaman: The Wily Wars (only released on the sega channel in the US) but was released for sale on Japan and Europe. Most emulators have trouble playing that rom too. what the hell is up with that?
I dont know where I was when Megaman 7 came out, Probably too busy playing Mortal Kombat II or something. I only picked up 7 (SNES) in recent years when my collecting became more of a habit, I mean hobby, ahem Hobby. So I have not beaten 7. Picked up Megaman Soccer at the same time, and, well it's definately good for a few laughs.
Megaman 8 was fucking huge with me. I remember calling the game store everyday asking when it would come out after seeing the magazine adverts. Megaman 8 was very good. It had great cut scenes. A decent story, good level design and good music (except for Clown Man stage, must have been designed by whoever at Capcom did Micky's Castle of Illusion, would have fit better there). And of course the introduction of Duo!
Megaman X, I did beat. But only after beating the shit out of X4 and X5. I doint think I could have played those games anymore that I have. Too bad I never had enough time to get into X6 (I thought it was kinda hard) nor Have I beaten X7 yet (I bought it, but I think the controls are not too great). I really hope that X8 is good though. I remember that Capcom was thinking if doscontinuing the X series for a while there, and then they did X5, what a relief. The ending of X5 was awesome though, and set up the story for Megaman Zero on GBA. It's almost like 6-8 are a parallel universe or something.
On a side note, Rockman and Forte, for SFC is awesome and well worth the money I paid on over priced eBay. The GBA version is complete crap as the overall screen area is reduced alot, but in the proportion, the character sprites didnt change size, so you can hardly see what the hell is going on in comparison. Also, the music in the SFC version is much better.
Super Adventure Rockman on Playsation/Saturn? What?
for Classic megaman fans, I don't recomend even trying the Megaman Battle Network series on GBA, however the Battle Network game that came out on the cube (Network Transmission) is a lot of fun. The graphics and sound are great, and the gameplay is what you would expect. It's really similar to the NES games.
The Megaman Zero series is great too, if only for the intriguing story. I'm abotu to Play Zero 3, and I hear that it's good. But, holy shit those games are HARD!!
Alot of people didnt like them, but I enjoyed the Megaman Legends game. Too bad mit offered a completely crappy story, but I still had fun with it, mindlessly.
That arcade games are cool, but I found them to be cooler when actually playing the arcade machine rather than the version on the Anniv. Colection. Capcom did however release a small compilation in Japan of those arcade fighter rockman games - in the Anniv Collection, they are there, but I'm pretty sure that you have to unlock them.
I'm still to this day wishing that capcom would make a game that would officially connect the X series to the original, in a conclusion to the original. But, of course this would mean that they close the door on a series and that means less cash for them.
Question - which is also kind of a SPOILER. I know that in X5, Sigma hints at talking to Wily somehow and learns some shit about Zero and the Zero virus (which was a nice twist in the story I might add) but in X6 or X7 story, do they mention Wily at all? because the other games never really say Wily, but juust beat around the bush. There is Zero's dream of a Wily-like character in X4, and then Sigman talking about 'an old man' in X5... any story experts here?
Never got a chance to play Rockboard, but I think I can live without it.

I think that the first Megaman game for gameboy was released around the same time that Megaman 4 was released on the NES.
It was released between MM3 and MM4. I'd say about 7 months after MM3 and 6 months before MM4. I'm going off memory of Nintendo Power release issues...
I've beat all of the GB Mega Man games, I think. I found #5 kinda tough, add to that I didn't enjoy it very much. I have an extra of it for sale, likely to go on eBay in coming days or weeks. Hopefully it still fetches $40 like it used to.
I like the ZERO games because they are just Megaman X series anyways...
I refuse to partake in the Battle Network Chip Blue Red Transmission Whatever series, though I enjoyed all three of the LEGENDS games (most notably, the first one and 'Tron Bonne')

Beating Megaman 1 (NES) is ALL about the SELECT trick. - I think it was removed from the Anniv. Collection, I dunno though.
Anyone ever play the Wonderswan version of Rockman & Forte? It's a totally different game than the SFC/GBA game.

It was removed. :(
I always found Sigma's Lair in X pretty tough. Guess 3 was easiest for most considering the passwor dsystem saves all your Energy tanks as well as your progress.

Yeah, but I was bummed that the password doesn't save it. :( I was also pretty annoyed that the passwords don't save anything you do in the final stages. I beat the spider boss one night, wrote down the password expecting it to save my work, and then I had to just do it all over. :/ The game is pretty nice to you for the final fight, though. I'm glad that I didn't have to redo a whole stage everytime I lost against Sigma, and the bugs that come out of the pipes are REALLY helpful for filling up the tanks and getting tons of lives.

i too had tons of trouble with mega man 4...
i LOVED the first 3, and i rented 4 (the genesis had claimed the top spot on my entertainment center by that point), and i couldn't beat a single boss.

Damn y'all.
Not to sound rude and conceited but, I have yet to find someone here on DP other than Jive3D, that can match up my 2-D Mega man Expertise, can't go on without cheating. (Mastered all 9 regular Megamans, counting Rockman & Forte on SFC, the first 4 Megaman X's, beat X5 and X6 but those got old quickly) Whoever said X7 was a easy game though......ehhh we'll I'm not gonna go there.
First of all, on Megaman 1, I NEVER knew about the Select Button trick. I've been fighting the Rock Monster the hard way since I was 10 years old. The best way to beat him is if you have a good eye for fast moving objects, only jump over what goes no higher than Megaman's head.
And to those that had trouble with Megaman 4, what are your dilemmas? I'll definitely be glad to help.

Mega Man I is not that tough and the select trick is absolutely unneseccary overkill. As mentioned, it's all about doing the bosses in the right order. With the right weapon, almost every boss goes down in 3 or 4 hits (one even goes down in 2 with the rocks in the room). And the Rock monster is not tough at all: it's a pattern just like any other video game. Learn the pattern and make your 4th jump over two reforming rocks. And the magnet beam nullifies all difficult jumps and gaps.
If it weren't for the clone battle, I'd be able to beat this game easily without dying. But that damn clone gets me every time.

I am not that good, I have a tendency to die a lot in this one but I have yet to get past that "clone"....grrrrr...
First of all, congratulations. You've drawn forth a warm, fuzzy feeling of fondness from your fellow DP'ers, and your first entry in a classic game series is always a special one.
However, with that whole mentioning of the boyfriend and viriginity, you opened up a full can of worms. So let's do like in Wayne's World and check out what could have been said.
