Yes, the Sachen games work on NTSC systems but were never officially released in the US or Canada (if that makes any sense).

About 1 game out of 2 don't work on a NTSC front loading system if the lock out chip is not removed. They all work with a top loading system. I actually found 2 sachen games (Bingo 75 and world of card games) in a flea market here in Canada with rental video stores names carved in the cartridge. This means they were rented back in the NES days.

I'm not trying to kiss his butt or anything, but I think the RedEye might know more about this topic than most, judging by his website (www.theredeye.net).

Are ya' out there, RedEye?

There was a huge thread about this a while back:

Sure, a store might have rented Sachens but that doesn't mean they were official NTSC releases (if that is what you are saying). I've found former rental pirate Famicom carts in the wild before, but I know those were never sold here.

The question of if these were US releases is one of those topics, like the meaning of life, that will never have a solid, complete, yes or no answer.

My Famicom clone is from Sachen. Has 8 games built into it.

Well there must have been some distributors of Sachen carts for the Canada market. The 2 rental games I found are not from the same rental stores. I also found 2 other Sachen games (Silent Assault and Metal Fighter) in the same flea market about 4 years ago but they don't have rental strores names on them. I know there was also Olmypic IQ, Millionaire and poker III carts found in the US. But I'm not saying they are official NTSC releases.

There is a difference between NTSC released and American NTSC released...

I played with about 30 sachen games and most sucks. Q-Boy is probably the best game. Poker III is also a good game. Penguin & Seal is not that bad and Chess Academy is fun if you know how to play.

I'm not so certain they were officially (or officially-unoffically since they were not licensed) in the US, but I'm fairly certain they were indeed at least released in North America (example: Canada). Then again, famicom games and pirates and such seem to have been a bit more common in Canada too, so whatever.

There is currently an auction with 3 sachen games : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=62053&item=8146294843&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

If there is no bids ask the seller if he would sell Poker 3 without having to buy the 2 other games. Unless you love 8-bit porn, Bingo 75 and Honey Peach are not very good games. I can finish Bingo 75 in one minute if I'm lucky and Honey Peach is fun for about 5 minutes.

Dancing Blocks (Sachen) is such an awesome game and if you can find it the box is a must have for the description on the back
