Hi, I've got some christmas shopping to do, and my Niece (6) and Nephew (8) want cube games. Here is the problem. When I was that age, all the games were 2d and pretty straight forward. These days, not so much. Now I want to get some good games (2-3) That are easy enough, but are "COOL". Mary Kate and Ashley are out. Now for the Nephew, as an example. Prince of Persia, was just a little beyond him. But he's close, (I'm just using that as an example. I'd be interested to hear what people are getting for this age group. The niece on the other hand, well she's 6 so we want to keep it easy. Super Monkey Ball would be good, except the difficulty gets very very high.
And Finally. I'm looking for a good Co-op for me and my lady friend to play together Ideas?

Sonic Mega Collection. Shouldn't be too hard to figure out, and sonic is 1337.
Mario Kart: Double Dash!!: If you don't have it already...
Mario Power Tennis: Simple, fun, and great co-op.

Not exactly console gaming... but the plug and plays are great for younger kids. All the young people I know like them and can play them fine. I picked up a spongebob one for my little cousin whos 6. ;)

Nothing wrong with spongebob bro..Im 24 and I catch an episode once in a while...dont be ashamed...it's a good series...sometimes I wonder how they get away with some of those jokes...especially the "Sailor Talk" episode..."7 dirty words..." try explaining that to a 6 year old kid....embrassing..

Dear god, don't get the little girl Mary Kate and Ashely. She's got her whole childhood ahead of her for people to buy her fake makeup, play vacuums, and other such "girly" toys. Buy the poor kid a real game, she'll enjoy it as much as the boy would.

My six year-old niece loves Super Monkey Ball, both Tak and Jimmy Neutron games, Animal Crossing, and even the Universal Studios Tour game (and she may be the only one LOL ).
The Incredibles looks like it might be a good choice too, no idea about the difficulty though.

Tak is a pretty good game, and forgiving, with plenty of checkpoints and limitless lives. I have come across some game-crashing glitches here and there, though.
Spongebob has actually gotten some good scores from what I've seen. I have yet to try them out, though as a sponge-fan, it's probably my duty to do so at some point. :D

thanks guys. Normally I don't ask, but buying for a kid is new to me. I'm not used to dealing with what they take as being difficult or not.

You can't jump in Doom or Doom II.

Jimmy Neutron is horrible(even for kids)
get Dr.Muto instead: Fun,easy and good to play.
also Tak is and an awesome platformer with a "banjo and kazooie"-taste
and
Luigis Mansion for some "Resi Evil for kids"-playtime

agreed! i hate those twins, they have corrupted society for girls IMO...
and their lives have been wrecked by greedy money making media demons...
which also reminds me, isnt one of them on crack?
on topic now...
Donkey Konga, good family fun ;)
Super Monkey Ball
Mario Kart DD

for the older child, if he has a PS2, there's Kingdom Hearts. But only if he seems to like RPGs even a bit.
Otherwise, I support the suggestion for Mario Kart: DD, Luigi's Mansion and Paper Mario. There's also Zelda: Wind Waker...
