Is it as easy as buying a new screen off eBay, like this?

Thanks, I was just wondering...

Nope. The second url is selling the plastic screen cover replacement, the gameboy's actual LCD screen is what's busted, evidenced by the black splotch of liquid crystal. When that happens, it's not worth bothering with. You can get a new (or used) GBA for the same cost as Nintendo will charge you to replace that screen, these days.

I had to get my original B/W GB fixed circa 1990 after an accident smashed the screen. Repair cost $40.

Oh I bought a Game Gear replacement screen like that from that guy, worst buy I ever bought on ebay :(

Although I got a brand new Nights Into Dreams W/ Pad from him, so I can say he is bad :)

If the screen is shattered and bleeding, I have a special term for that condition GBA.
