It's his thing. Kinda like pedophiles and playgrounds. See (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/search.php?search_author=PoserOnBoy).

...Or like giving a chronic masturbator access to the internet. He just can't help myself, I MEAN himself, HIMSELF!

It must be some kind of viral disease going around this forum - Nobody can stay on topic! Than you for spamming this rather interesting thread and letting us know about your peadophile / masturbation tendencies...

This thread was actually aimed at people who can actually afford the game, and not scratchers who can barely afford a pre-owned GameCube...

So, any people out there who actually do have this game, please offer your constructive opinions.

Well... I do own the game. Well... No, I haven't heard of the two player mode. Well... I do like the taste of Spam. Well... I have a rare disease called poseronboyhumoridus, that keeps me from staying on topic. Well... You hurt my feelings.

Well... What the hell is that supposed to mean? Daddy own a car dealership?

If there is a two-player mode, you would be the LAST person, aside from PoserOnBoy, that I would want to play it with.

Since this thread has already gone to hell in a handbasket, let me add just one more tidbit.

Why do you care about Nintendo so much, if you think it's "teh suck", as evidenced by your signature? Methinks something's screwed with your logic.

Excuse me, Neonsolid... why are you using this alternate ID?

Is this even possible?

The tech manual states that you shouldn't have more than one SB controller plugged in at a time.......

Gemini-Phoenix
11-18-2004, 10:53 AM
Ah, I think you should read the manual again... It actually says more than TWO which is a huge clue for a start...

You kinda get thinking to yourself "Now why would they say that? Why would one want to connect more than one for that matter..." and then it hits you - A two player mode!

Now up till now I have only given you half of the story... I actually own two Steel Battalions, so I gave this theory a go, and sure enough, there is indeed a secret two player mode which only becomes apparent after connecting up two controllers!

Now Capcom probably wanted to keep this a secret for as long as possible (For reasons I don't know) but is probably one of the best kept secrets since the cheat codes to Goldeneye! (You know, they said for years that there weren't any, and then suddenly they appeared after the N64 was announced dead!)

But anyway, that's as much info i'm going to give you for now... If you want to know more then I suggest you all go and buy a second controller and figure it out for yourself...

Anyway, about the Steel Battalion, I don't even know anyone else who has one near me so there's no way to try it out (and my daddy isn't rich). I do remember somebody else here having two sets (from his/her Room of Doom pics / Tips and Tricks highlight). THAT would be someone to ask (unless they too are an assclown). I would, but I don't really exist.

If you already know about it, why not explain it us uninitiated folks who don't? The whole point of this website is about sharing videogame knowledge, after all.

Or do you just like thinking you're special and 1337 because you've spent a shitload of money buying 2 sets of expensive controllers for a not-particularly-great game?

Secret = undocumented?

Huh? I found cheat codes - button codes, not the page of cheats - on the Internet quite a while before Majora's Mask came out for the system. Wasn't really quite "dead" then.

is this 2-player mode supposed to support 2 of those super big joysticks, or is it 1 joystick and a regular controller?

this forum is all about sharing info and you refuse to tell us

why bother bringing this up at all

all this post was is a braging post that you "supposedly" own two copies of a $200 game......if i really wanted to i could easily go out and buy 3 copies of this game right now...i dont want to though

but, i am interested in more info / screenshots about this "2 player mode"

if you have info, share it and back it up....or dont bother

Seriously.

While I am intrigued about the concept, I'm not going to go shell out another $200 because you're too righteous to explain something you clearly know quite a bit about.

Ok, firstly I am not some twat 14 year old kid who's daddy is a rich car dealership owner... I am 23 and make my own money.

Yes, I do think I am special because I have discovered something which, to my knowledge, I am the first to discover (Outside of Capcom that is)

I have searched all over the internet, and no where have I ever seen anyone else who has discovered this, so I do believe I am that special person!

I won't tell you anymore, as I have told you far too much as it is. I am still in the process of contacting Capcom to find out if I am indeed the first person to have discovered this! Obviously if Nintendo come up with some new technology, they ain't gonna blab about it before they patent it are they!

As for where in the manual it says not to connect two controllers...

It doesn't say in the booklet which actually comes inside the game case, so you have to refer to the huge booklet which is in the box with the controller...

It clearly says at the very top of page 2:

"Do not plug more than 2 Steel Battalion controllers into the same Xbox unit"

They are the exact words printed as they appear. They are at the very top of page 2 and can't be missed!

And you want me to share something with you? Ok then, how's this - A custom three colour Steel Battalion controller for your gaming pleasure! This baby sure is impressive in the dark!

the person that coded the code was the first person to "find it"
you just stumbled upon something that someone else already knew....if it really does exist....you provide us with no proof besides a pic of 1 controller

If Capcom has "patented" some "new code" they would have let everybody know about it. If it isn't patented, some HK group will reverse engineer it and then everybody will be using it. Maybe Gemini Phoenix is being slightly mysterious with his choice of words?

Or maybe he's just being a genius as usual (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=45789).

None of you read things properly do you. It's not a code. I have told you all you eed to know. Simply plug in two controllers and all will be revealed! Can't make it easier for you than that can I?

And I did say that I could be the first person OUTSIDE Capcom who has found this out... Bloody hell, they give you an obvious clue in the manual!

I guess they expected no one to have more than one controller.

I don't want to patent anything, I just want some credit for finding something which no one has yet found. Kind of like discovereing a glitch in a game or maybe a cheat no one else has yet found...

I contacted Capcom asking why they haven't let this two player mode public, and I also asked whether it was left in there on purpose, or whether it was left in accidently.

There is no other mention of it in the manual or anywhere online, so either it wasn't supposed to have been left in, or they wanted people to discover it for themselves...

I also thought about contacting some magazine or something to see if they knew anything... Maybe the Official Xbox magazine perhaps...

Anyway, if I divulge too much information about it to you lot, then what's stopping you taking the credit and starting all manner of rumours all over the internet about some mysterious 2 player mode...??? Especially as most of you haven't even got two controllers. Sooner or later the story would be modified and next thing I know, someone has started some rumour about a four player mode!!! (Which is clearly impossible)

No, i'm not saying any more on the subject as I don't want rumours to go flying around about it. You know what those 13 year olds are like on GameFAQ's - They'll print any old crap! Then as soon as they have, it becomes gospel truth!

Anyone who actually is in the position to try it out has all the info they need. Just plug them both in and you'll soon see. ;)

I am a spotty 13 year old who's mother has to go out at night to work, and who's daddy has to smoke so much crack in order to forget what kind of smelly gypsy prick I am...

I can't afford an Xbox, let alone Steel Battalion, so i really don't have any reason to be in this thread anyway. Besides, my caravan is far too small to be able to store such a controller anyway.

Yep, you sure said it! Can't argue with that can I? ;)

But we can work them out. If we learn to, well, love a little.

I do have to compliment you (as I get back on topic), combining the LOF and the original Steel Battalion controllers looks pretty cool. I would buy LOF and do the same with mine, but I just don't have it in my budget. Y'know, cost of marimbas and mbiras (thumb pianos) nowadays. Busts the bank if you know what I mean.

Yeah, I thought it was a good idea to combine both, and believe me, it is well worth doing! In the dark, it looks so sweet!

I prefer that combination better though (Blue-Green-Blue) compared to the reverse (Green-Blue-Green)

t's a shame they didn't do what Namco did with the Gcon and licence it out so that other developers could make use of it... I am sure Konami could've come up with a sweet game or two, or even Square-Enix (If they actually made any Xbox games)

It could also double up as a flight controller too I guess... Or just a normal tank controller...

Or, imagine a Star Wars game where you use it to pilot loads of Star Wars vehicles like maybe an AT-AT or AT-ST...

I'm just really finding it hard to believe that NO ONE has asked a friend with the controller to come over and tried two controllers in the same XBox. HOW long has this game been out now? x_x

Don't you think it's probaly just a mistype, some outdated information or something that was'nt written in right? As in, 'do not plug two controllers into the XBox as they will not work'? :/

You know after Un-boxing my second controller and plugging it in with NOTHING Happening I feel.......... used..And a bit pissed off..
What a fucking waste of time...Thank You.....Waste of time because I can't find Shit..

Plugging in the second controller doesn't ruin it or cause any problems.
After un plugging both controllers back and forth they work fine for a 1 player game.(didn't ruin anything..
The second controller knob light does light up but is not acknowledged by the Xbox..

I can't find anything in Campaign nor Free Mission that acknowledges 2 players..

So if you really did this then you have some special game or......Maybe completing the Campaign mode opens something up.

Got some real detailed info I can go by then post it...Picks etc....I could care less about being the one who tells Capcom or whoever about this..
I can't find anything to get a two player game going...

Anyone heard of a secret two player mode in the original Steel Battalion game on Xbox?

Different mechs (errr.. VT's) handled differently. Some were sluggish and felt powerful; while others were nimble yet less gruff. With 20 VT's available to choose from (not initially) the longevity of the game is amazing; and with 25 missions to boot and the possibility of a two-player option; I can't see getting bored with this for sometime. To keep the mission based game alive, as expected, at the end of each mission you are awarded points that can be used to upgrade your VT. This can be anything from weapons to performance features.

Old news M8!!!!
