It was on this very day, 3 years ago, that the cute little purple system that could was launched. [I believe] it was accompanied by Luigi's Mansion, Super Monkey Ball, and Wave Race on this particular day. Since then, there have been around 100 times as many games released. In honor of this day, I suggest you buy your Gamecube a new GBA game :)

That much time already, huh?

I really don't play mine as much as I should, and I most certainly don't buy much software for it. This is what I don't like about portovers. It's easier just to buy a game for my PS2, since I prefer the "even-ness" of the X, triangle, square and circle buttons over the Cube's main buttons. I still can't see what the purpose was in making the X and Y buttons kidney shaped and the large A button and small B button, other than to be stubbornly different. Why couldn't they just do 4 evenly sized round buttons in a diamond shape? It works for everyone else.

Honestly, I keep my Cube for the Zelda collection and PSO. There are some exclusive titles that I want....but there's no urgency in buying them since they're available everywhere in the wild. Then again......I once thought the same thing about the Dreamcast! LOL LOL

I will play mine today in celebration.

Because the Gamecube really does focus on two button gameplay. No hard numbers, but if I had to guess I'd say you use the A button 60% of the time, B button 30%, then X,Y,Z,L,R all share the last 10%.

Oh and I'm pretty sure Star Wars Rogue Squadron II was a release title?

Thanks GC for sucking the wife and I's time away with games such as Ikaruga, Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon! And your birthday present is in the mail, it should be here soon - a shiney new game!

True, FantasiaWHT.....but I use my Cube primarily for PSO and on that game...and Metroid Prime, evn now I constantly have to watch where my thumbs go. Another thing that's odd is that you move your thumb down to hit the brakes on a racer, while on the other consoles braking is done by moving up.

All is good though....it's my favorite controller by far because it's shape fits my small hands to perfection.

Hmmm....something else dawned on me. I've yet to own Pikmin. I'm buying it today and putting the sequel on my Christmas list.

Horray! The Gamecube was the first system I actually stood in line for until mid-night on launch day. I'll never do THAT again! LOL

I've had some good times with mine, such as the year-long marathon of Animal Crossing, the goodness that is Wind Waker, quick runs down the slopes in 1080, and dying many MANY times in Ikaruga.

I too will have to celebrate tonight by playing something (but what? I don't know yet... maybe some Ikaruga too or some Tales of Symphonia...).

Wow, can't believe it's been 3 years already. Time really does fly!!!

Happy Birthday I for one will celebrate by reattaching the cubes lunch pail like handle. ( I forgot about the handle during reassembly)

After that I shall scare the Hell out of my self by playing some Eternal Darkness or one of the Resident evils........

Yeah Rogue Leader was a launch title. Actually I remember having it a few weeks before the GameCube was even released because FYE got them in early LOL

That makes it a nice coincedence that I reached a GC collecting goal (20 games) earlier this week, just in time for the big day.

I did buy a GC game yesterday - Spider-Man 2. So there's my gift. :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CUBE!!
I love you so much. It's the console I play the most currently.

When are you coming out with Mario 128??? (And can't wait for the new ZELDA!!)

It doesn't seem like it's been out for 3 years. God I miss the older days when we were waiting for the SNES to come out.LOL I only have 3 games for it. I really don't buy any games for it cause my brothers and I would rather play other games on the PS2 or XBOX. So I might sell my GC in the next year or so.
