View Full Version : Would you buy Halo 2 again?

There seems to be alot of dissapointment and mixed feeling and reviews surrounding Halo 2, some people say it's a great game, others say it isn't even worthy of having the Halo name, some have even compared it to bad sex.

So I just want to know from the people who have bought and played the game if given the choice, would you buy it again or opt for something else?

Certainly. I feel that I've gotten my money's worth, especially since I've been able to play with many friends online.

Yes of course.......(looking to get a second copy cheaper for link -up)

Well, I'm still holding out on buying my first copy. I'll probably get the Marathon games first.

Yes. It's a fun game, but I do feel that it seems more like an expansion pack of the first game than a new game altogether.

Definitely...deluxe.

I've put god knows how many hours into it so far (only online) and I haven't even started the campaign yet.

I would buy it again strictly for the multiplayer...it's a blast to play on Xbox Live. The campaign is so-so, but I thought the same thing about the first Halo.

There's no way in Earth Halo 2 could ever live up to the hype. There's always going to be people mad that the game doesn't spit gold coins at them or whatever grand illusions they had for it.

I really like it & think it's a huge improvement over the original. Online play is flawless, which is really hard to acheive in a game like this that requires such precision.

So yeah, I'd buy it again & probably will buy a 2nd copy for some New Year's Eve link-up with friends.

One copy is enough for me.

I've beaten the hell out of it, but I still have to buy it. Probably snag a copy with some Christmas cash.

I mean, I just bought Half-Life 2 and MGS3.. give me a break.

It's worth it for the multiplayer alone. Campaign is pretty fun though, in an Empire Strikes Back sort of way.

Probably not......untill it hits Platinum status.

I got the Limited Edition version and I wasn't too happy with the flaws. Pop-up in a Bungie game on a system as powerful as the XboX? No excuses. Those CG cinematics were really bad. Reminds me of the kind that you get in an Agetec RPG, where the people all look like their faces and hair are made of plasticene.

I feel exactly the same way.

I sure would like to hear some of the explanations from the "Hell no" voters :hmm:

I am not looking to get into a fan boy type of fight. Im just would like to hear a valid reason why somebody would say hell no. Thats all.

I do understand that Halo 2 has its flaws, but lets face it, many people will vote "Hell No" for the simple fact that "its Halo" or because its a "Microsoft product".

No it hasn't. Halo has sold way over a Million copies and still sells for $30. Its a cash cow and neither of these games will probably never reach the $20 platinum hits status.

Maybe because some of us have legitimate reasons for not liking Halo? I've already gone over it way too much, so I don't wanna get into another argument about it.

Oh yeah, This is coming from the same person who had written "Halo Sucks My Boobs" above his avatar not too long ago....

Come to think of it, I believe you still haven't given a legitimate reason for dislikeing Halo. I remember one of your post's in another thread where you blatenly made yourself seem overly biased towards Microsoft.

I voted "Hello No". My reasons are as follows:

1. You couldn't zoom in with the pistol.
2. If you got in the gunner seat the driver can't drive worth a shit!
3. They changed the sounds of the alien guns that were in the 1st Halo
4. They made the aliens sound like humans
5. You really didn't get to play as Master Cheif a lot.
6. The ending sucked ass.
7. Only re-play value is online play or multi player.

If I had to choose between both of the games, I'd choose Halo 1.

Edit: Another reason why I didn't like it is because they slowed all the vehicles down and gave them a boost thing. Bungie fucked us with this Halo.

I voted "Hell no", although that is not really accurate because I haven't bought one copy of Halo 2 yet. As someone who is actively on the lookout for decent Xbox exclusives, I used a free rental pass to rent Halo 2 to see what the hype was all about. I played for 15 minutes, then went back to GTA: SA. Granted, this was all on campaign and no multiplayer; however, I'd like to know why people think Halo is better than any of the other hundreds of FPS games out there. I just found the game underwhelming and boring.

Grand illusions that Microsoft had no qualms about feeding ;)

i would wait til it was cheap.

the game is way too short. 4 hours and its over. and there isnt even an ending! it's like the game was chopped in half.

also it's very repetitive, which isn't that annoying because the game is so short. I thought they fixed that repetitive level problem from the first.

multiplayer is only fun when i play with certian people. When I go into a public game it's not that great.

How did you manage to beat this thing in 4 hours? It took me like 13 on Normal alone.

4 Hours to beat it? Heh, You must be a fruckin GOD... LOL

As for the Multiplayer, How is it only fun with certain people and not with the public? Thats sound like your crapping on the game because you get your ass handed when playing the general public. I get my ass handed to me plenty of times, but Im not gonna dislike a game because some people are better then me at it.....

I voted a big Hell No. In fact, it's been sold already on Amazon. I got bored with Halo 2 real fast. I think after playing Unreal Tourny '04 and Battlefront, it just stole some of the fire from Halo 2. Plus with all of the great titles that have been released the last month or so, who has time for more of the same?

What I want to know is, WTF was Bungie smoking when they were creating Halo 2!?

I am getting better every day. Of course I hate the little trash talking 11 year old who can play all day. I really wish they put your age next to your profile that way when match making pulls up a match for me I could just jump out of it before I have to play one of these little fuckers.

@ aricoboyo : Have you played it online , or do you not like playing with other people as well ? I found the online play is the star attraction with Halo 2. (at least for me it is)

I would wait for the price drop or buy it used for like $30. Multiplayer and Online are fun (6 min matches are way too short), but the campaign mode to me just isn't as good as in the first Halo. I was highly expecting to play as Master Cheif the whole game. Master Cheif is a bad ass and is a major icon in Halo. I can't believe that we can't play Master Cheif that much. I could care less about being an alien.

Hey Cap. Nintendo, yeah I did play it on Xbox Live, and I agree it was well implemented and is the main star of the show. I had fun, but it's nothing that I could see myself playing for a long time. I still had friends playing multiplayer on the first Halo up until release of Halo 2, which I think is just crazy, because Halo multiplayer was horrid. Not cracking on Halo 2 overall, especially the online play, but it just fell flat for me.

I'm gonna go with something GREEN!

Anyhow, Hell yes. The cut scenes were kinda lame, but, I didn't buy Halo 2 for the cutscenes. Multiplayer madness=Great fun.

I too voted "Hell No!" I just picked up my copy today and let me tell you I got bored of it in the first few minutes and turned it off. I am sure (or hope) it gets better and will go back to it. Here are the things I didn't like about it so far...

1. The cheesy CG cutscenes
2. The really bad voice overs and cheesy NPCs :puke:
3. The platiscene characters in the cutscenes - reminds me of 1997 & Half-Life
4. The aliens speaking english. :frustrated:
5. The dark muddy colors on the opening level
6. The uninspired opening level - haven't we seen this type of level before in the original or even the original Unreal for the PC? :hmm:

Now, lots of people will like it for the MP, but if you are going to compare the 1st to the 2nd you really need to look at the SP campaign. So far (after 1 level granted) I don't like what I see. I'm thinking I should've bought Metroid Prime 2 (I could care less for MP on consoles anyways).

Needless to say Halo 2 has been a disappointment so far. I hope it gets better.

Well I just have one question..

WAT THEY HELL HAVE THEY DONE IN 3 YEARS ? THEY Delayed the game 14 months and the story mode still SUX. And the Ending.. lets just leave at the story mode.
