Word in Sony's GAP (Gamer Advisory Panel) is that if you play the Viewtiful Joe demo in the Holiday demo disc that it will re-format your memory card...just a heads up!

The same demo might be on the new OPM demo disc too... x_x

Success! My plan has finally come to fruition! This'll teach those Sony followers to take franchises from us.. Muahahahaha!!
*cough*
Oh, sorry. I got carried away. Thank's for the heads up.

Yep, this is true, and very serious. I recommend changing the thread title to make it more clear (something like READ - VJ2 demo on holiday demo disc will erase your memory card!).
Here's a news story about it (http://www.gamesarefun.com/news.php?newsid=3889).

Following a series of links, I ended up on the Playstation.com forums. I found it hilarious that one guy complained that it erased his card, and everyone pretty much jumped on him, saying he was using unofficial cards and didn't take care of his system. LOL
But this has probably taught me that whenever I play a demo disc, remove the memory card first. O_O

hahah ouch! sounds nasty!
I saw a (different?) Holiday 2004 DD that has: (guessing all playable)
Killzone
Prince of Persia 2
Metal Gear Solid 3
Ratchet & Clank 3: UYA
& a few others, but VJ2 wasnt listed on there...
It came packaged in a booklet & included a $5 off EB Games coupon for PS2 games $30 & up.

Why don't you blame Capcom? Considering it doesn't happen with any of the other demos maybe Capcom is the one to blame. Of course that couldn't happen it has to be the evil that is Sony.

I think that is the one I got in the mail yesterday. It also includes:
Jak 3
Star Wars: Battlefront
Silent Hill 4: The Room
ATV Off-Road Fury 3
Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War
Area 51
BTW, I had never heard of Area 51 before, but I was really impressed by it. It's an FPS that plays like an "old-school" arcade game such as NARC or Total Carnage. Lots of enemies and fast action, and the graphics are very good. Much better than the Killzone demo IMHO.

Capcom is sending out a e-mail blaming SONY for the Memory Card problem. It says that Sony 'aploigizes for any inconvience caused' by this.

That is a nice PR spin on their part. Blame Sony instead of taking the blame themselves. What could Sony have done to Capcom code? Like I said before it is obviously Capcom's fault.

I'm just saying what they are reporting. Look at the other thread here, the guy posted the thread exactly as he got it from Capcom.
I knew someone here would start slamming Sony about this.
Try to do something nice &... :/

Well, we really don't know who is at fault here. Sony seems to be taking the blame for it, but the e-mail from them was sent out by Capcom -- who made the demo in the first place! Who knows at this point? x_x

They didn't even bother to send me a disc. I got another Jak 3 card. It has a $5 off coupon towards the game at EB. Not sure if I want to pay $35 for Jak 3 though, especially since I have yet to start Jak II.
Not getting the disc is probably for the better though. LOL

Well, I stand corrected. Turns out I did get a demo disc after all - it got misplaced when I got the mail yesterday and I found it this morning.
No VJ2 demo, but I'll remove the memory card when I play it anyway just to be on the safe side. I wish Sony had put it in an official PS2 case, though. The disc was a little scratched up.
On another note, I hope Capcom takes the time to make sure the full PS2 version of VJ2 doesn't erase memory cards.

Why would you take it out (assuming you don't have a file system going and don't change games to where you need to swap memory cards very often)? I leave my PSX memory cards in the ol' PlayStation all the time.
And some demos - at least back in 1998, some of the official PlayStation Underground discs - did save to memory card; they had special save files you could use with games to get extra cars, tracks, etc.

I usually leave the current memory card in the PS2 that has saves on it for the current game/s I'm playing..
So when I try a demo ..the memory card is still in..
After I try/play the demo,I go back to playing the game I was playing....(get it)
Lots of games = more then one memory card..too..

I just got this today too. Is it the afformentioned delete disc?
If so i am going to lend it to a few poeple :evil laugh:
Finally got mine today. It's the "worse" of the 2- I'm not interested in half the demos!
Ratchet & Clank: UYA
Jak 3
ATV Offroad Fury 3
STAR WARS: BF (yeah!)
Ace Combat 5
Crash: Twinsanity (bleh)
Tak 2: Staff of Dreams (bleh)
The Incredibles (bleh)
Viewtiful Joe 2 (DANGER DANGER!)
Spyro: A Hero's Tail (bleh)
My coupon is for $5 off any $20 & up any Circuit City game, different than the other I saw.At least, judging from vgdaryll's above post, each disc has 10 demos. I guess I'm not complaining.

If you live in the US or Canada, go to us.playstation.com and register to become a member of the PlayStation underground (it's free). Once you're registered, you can set up your account so they can send you stuff by snail mail, including demos.
I haven't received my VJ2 demo disk yet, but I guess it's only a matter of days now...

I am registered to Under ground 5ish times. I have 1 for the last 3 years 1 at my dads last house and one at my current house. This is the first demo or promotional item i have gotten in a very long time.

Luckly I'm a careful gamer, I take out my memory card out after every time I turn off the system (I do this for all my systems that require a memory card), mainly because I always thought that leaving it in all the time would damage it. I just stick it in whatever game I'm playing at the moment, case.

Guys, if you had your memory card erased by the demo disk, Sony will give you a free game:
http://www.gamesarefun.com/news.php?newsid=3974
Not an awesome list, but there are some good titles on there. It's nice that Sony is doing this, even though it doesn't make up for the erased memory cards.

I'm a memeber of the Playstation U. since 2001 and I have received exactly two demos discs w/ $5 coupon each for C. City and B. Buy. And a dated OPM issue with a demo disc. And I haven't received anything in over a year. And I have been to the website and I still exist. So why do some humans get more stuff than others?

I buy a shitload of Sony's stuff and register them and send in the card things and get nothing. My cousin rgistered his PS2 like 3 years ago and he gets something almost every week.
