View Full Version : What game played this year did you find most satisfying?
The reason that I ask this question is that although I've played many good games this year, some can leave you feeling hollow....like a movie that you go and see, and you've forgotten about 10 minutes later.
I just finished The Lord Of The Rings-The Third Age, and although it may not qualify as a Game Of The Year contender.....it was DAMNED satisfying to play. I probably got the most money's worth out of this title. It was a joy to fire up and I touched no other game from the time that I started it until the end boss was laid to rest.
Tell us your most satisfying game discovery this year...it doesn't have to be FROM this year. Some of us may discover some new favorites this way!!!

Halo 2 and MGS 3 Snake Eater
Both of those games lived up to the expectations I had set for them. The only complaint I have is that they weren't released sooner.

Also - not a new game, but my second place is super punchout for the SNES - I probably played that the most this year.

I loved Fight For NY. I have never been that determined to beat a game in my life. Game brought me 4 straight days of goodness. I did practilly nothing but play it. I hope there is a 3rd in the series.

Games that I palyed this year? Or games that were released this year?
My most satisfying game was Psyvariar 2 for the dreamcast, import. Awesome shooter. I'm not really a fan of shooters either. This created a heated competition between me and my friends.. lol

same here, I have NEVER played a GC until about 2 weeks ago. My grandmother passed away and I was staying at my sisters house in MD (500 miles from where I live) for the funeral service. My nephew has a GC, and all I did the entire time I was there was play Kart DD. Mega addictive! I would go buy a GC right now just to be able to play DD, but I'm thinkin my GF might have gotten me one for Christmas. If not, Ill buy one myself just to be able to play DD again

So many modern games, I'm really stuck in a retro phase this year. The only non-classic, non-Gameboy Advance game I bought this year was Doom 3 for the PC. That was pretty satisfying for an old Doom and Half-Life fan.
But really my most satisfying gaming experience this year has been the classic Lemmings on the Atari ST and the Lynx. I never played this when it came out so it was fun being addicted to it for the first time.
I think that I just found another one.
I've had a copy of the original Tomba (PSX) for ages but never popped it in. I've onlt ever played a short demo of Tomba 2 on an old OPM disc. My 3 yr old was looking at my games and asked what it was. I decided to pop it in. I've been playing it for the last couple of hours. It's fun. I never knew that it was mission based and that Tomba sort-of levels up.
I would have played this many years ago.
