I may have told you all this before, but it's coming up fast now. Scott and I are driving a truck from NY to Vegas, a 2200 mile trip, starting Monday, August 5th.

This is happening because we've amassed a number of arcade machines and other gigantic material (like the kiosks for Odyssey2, ColecoVision and Astrocade that are taking over my upstairs bedroom), and these need to be housed permanently in our storage facility in Vegas. Freight charges were insane, this was "pllan B".

So. What does everyone do when they have a really long trip to take? I'm figuring about 45 hours of driving time, about 15 hours a day with two nights sleep in whatever dump will take us.

Looking for fun ways to pass the time. Handhelds are an obvious must :)

When my friend an I were driving back to Seattle from E3, we watched the Star Wars Trilogy on my tv. Although you might not have a TV in your car. I'd suggest I spy, but since you're driving through middle america, your only choices will be ground, sky, and the occasional semi.

I found books on tape to actually be a very good way to pass the time. You might even want to order some transcripts from NPR shows, if that's your thing. Middle america radio isn't exactly top tier talent. I found one station that played "I love Rock n Roll" by Joan Jett 24 hours a day. They must have had a 500,000 watt tower, cuz we had that station on our dial for 2 days straight.

Actually, if you're going down I-80 you can swing by my apartment for a potty break. :P
