I came across a copy of this game (SNES version) a few weeks ago and I decided to snag it because I was under the impression that it was a hard to find game. I was surprised when I got home and checked my DP Guide and saw that it was only rated a R2 in rarity. It's interesting to see that the Genesis version is rated as a R5.
Anybody have any hard facts about this game? I've only seen one copy of it sold on ebay in the last month and this was the first time I had ever seen one in the wild. I thought I remembered reading a long time ago that only like 10,000 copies of the game were made, but I may be mistaken (and I probably am LOL ).
Any info on this game would be great!
Speaking of Techmo Super Bowl......I know that there are those of you on here that swear that the Techmo game for the NES is one of the best football games that ever was.
Here's my question. At a local shop they have Techmo Bowl....and Techmo Super Bowl......both for NES. Is it the Super Bowl one that I should get?

Yes! Most TB fans consider TSB on the NES to be the best game in the entire series.
And some folks consider it one of the best games of all-time. :)
It shall be mine tomorrow morning.
Thanks!!!

Which says something for the gameplay, what with all those red unis and logos being pink in the game. ;)

I remember when this game came out & I'd heard the rumors as well that it was a limited release. I couldn't find it anywhere except at a rental store.
I rented it & told them I'd lost it when it was due back. I "bought" it for $69.99 and they didn't even give me the manual or box. :embarrassed:
Ohh, the memories.

On Topic: The SNES one is the one I've had a hard time finding while I've found two copies of the Genesis one. I wouldn't say that either of them are that common.
Off Topic: I've been having alot of fun playing my new 2004 version of Tecmo Super Bowl on the NES thanks to leonk. Not to thread jack but here are some photos.

I see the team rosters are updated. What about the 'abilities' of the players and also the changes in the divisions and expansion teams....
Curious about that. Where's the ROM, and how do I put it on a NES cart :D

OK here is all the info you will need.
Any Tecmo Super Bowl Rom will work. So go here and find your favorite. I used a current 2004 Tecmo Rom (leonk should still have that one if you want it)
http://www.knobbe.org/
Because their are more teams now than when Tecmo was made some teams get left off so check to see if your favorite team is still there. The atributes on the Roms are modified to fit the current rosters. So Kevin Jones (the new Detroit RB) is not as good as Barry Sanders.
Once you find a Rom you go here to leonk (who is a trusted DP member)
http://nesreproductions.com/
and get it put on a cart.
This place also has a NCAA version of the game if that interest you.

Long live Tecmo Super Bowl
Edit: I also made the label which you are all free to use if you want or make your own either way leonk will print it and put it on for you.

On the original question. I wouldn't call the Genesis version particularilly rare, but yes, it had a limited production run and isn't necesarilly easy to find, especially considering it's a sports title.
