I just finished MGS3 and wow all I can say is Metal Gear is finally back in fine form! This game is everything that part 2 should have been and more absolutely the BEST MGS ever made without question @_@
I was slightly let down by part2 but snake eater has more than made up for it 10 fold.
Hideo Kojima has almost perfected the MGS franchise with this game.
The cutscenes are all brilliant and actually make sense this time.
I was one of the many that hated the confusing and convulated storyline of part 2 but part 3 explains and expands on everything that has been hinted on since the original 8-bit encarnations.
It even makes fun of Raiden LOL
and yes you do get to play as the "REAL" big boss SNAKE but I wont give anymore spoilers away.
I rarely "preach" about a game or suggest it to other gamers on this board but the new Metal Gear is of such high quility in every way and FAR surpasses part 2 in all that it was lacking I just wanted to get the word out.
I did hesitate buying a new 49.99 copy at first now all I can say is it was worth every penny in my opinion.
SO IF ANY OF YOU OUT THERE HAVE EVER EVEN REMOTELY LIKE THE METAL GEAR SERIES DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GET THIS GAME![/b]

well part 2 didnt make sense to a lot of ppl was all I was saying anyway part 3 clears a lot of things up in my opinion and that was just what I wanted after the fairly convulated story that was in MGS2 ;)

First off, take it easy. Settle down. Take a deep breath.
Second, I'm playing through as fast as possible! Damn homework and college.
I'm having a really tough time with this...the lack of radar is really killing me. Either that or I just suck :D

hmmm... actually the game offers a few different types of radars look in your backpack and make sure you have them all selected so you can use them

I have yet to find words for how amazing this game is and how incredibly petty and misguided Penny Arcade is to say it's not, so all I'll do is ask something; how many hours did it take you to complete? Strictly speaking; not including playthroughs or monkey-catching or any of that.

The failed [/b] tag makes post #1 even funnier.
Oh, and good job at quoting the whole thread there, SMB, in case we missed it the first time.
MGS3 better than MG2? LOL
Really though, this may well be the best PS2 game out there...I'll have to get a PS2 first, but it'll be interesting to see how it squares up with the newest (or is that next?) Splinter Cell.

Let me set the record straight: I loved MGS2. I found it comparable to the original MGS (which goes without saying that it is a classic), and even surpassing the first MGS game in certain aspects. With that, I expect to be freaking WOWED when I play this game, and from what my friend Kurt tells me, it won't disappoint. He gives it two thumbs way up... and he already beat the game. o_O
I was a bit confused as to why "Solid Snake" had a new name in this game, buuuuuuuuuuuuuuut... nah, nah, can't say any more. Spoiling MGS plot is pretty much a crime. :D
Ok, I'm getting the hang of it. Between the sonar/motion detector and the map things are a bit more tolerable. So far so good.

Hmm...it works differently? How so...sounds interesting.

I'm a cool cat, are you? From the looks of it you were pretty excited yourself there. Plus what SMB did was pure smacktardery...doesn't affect me in the least, but he deserves a slap for it you know.

LOL
