I'm wondering if anybody's got S-Ranks in Mischief Makers in particular, but if you wanna talk about Contra: SS, I won't stop you, either :)

So far I've played the game about an hour (it's been YEARS since I played the game and I'm so much better at it now!) and managed to get A ranks with the gold star on all first nine levels, with four B ranks in there. I think I'm very close to an A or maybe even an S in 1-3, which would be the Clanball park.

(Did I mention this game is incredibly funny? Yes...)

(It's also one of those games that doesn't let you skip cinematics, no matter how many times you've seen them...lame)

I can get S-Ranks in about half the songs on the first Guitar Freaks game... and a few peppered across the three sequels.

I've gotten lots of S-Rank weapons from Phantasy Star Online (versions after the original, where you can name your weapon).

As far as Mischief Makers goes, no dice.

No S-ranks on Mischief Makers. :(

S-rank overall on Contra: SS. :D

Any questions? :)

Let me just say that Mischief Makers is underrated, and is actually the first ever Treasure game that it has been my pleasure to kick ass on. I spent ages trying to figure out how to get the gold gem on stage 5-3, and that's when I finally used the internet to look up how to obtain it. The entire game is weird... VERY weird, and henceforth, it is right up my alley. It should be in the library of every N64 owner who likes action, and lots of it. ;)

P.S.: I once got a Crazy license on the first Crazy Taxi. That's higher than an S license. Does that count?

OMFG!

I just got out my old Nintendo Power with S-ranks for all first three "levels," and boy these S-Ranks are SICK!

Just look:

1-1 A=0:48 S=0:25
1-2 A=0:47 S=0:17
1-3 A=0:55 S=0:25
1-4 A=0:38 S=0:08

And it goes on like that. NP relates that they'd gotten "about a dozen" S-Ranks (at least at the time they'd gone to press), but they had this list...hmm. Anyhow, that's really crazy. O_o

I've S'ed a lot of Guitar Freaks and Drummania songs and SS'ed a bunch of Drummania songs.

Gotten a Chocobo to S-class in FF7 but hasn't everybody?

Fingers getting a bit worn feeling, but not as bad as it might be on my ol' hands. I would imagine it'd be worse for many, though.

The sound's not as bad as many reviewers (contemporary, i.e. Nintendo Power's and IGN's) say it is, and while the 3D background in Migen's Lair (levels) isn't anything to look at, most of the graphics are detailed and varied as well. It's the funniest thing in the world to see Marina spike, serve, and kick various objects almost as if she's playing volleyball.

Speaking of which, there's definitely...something...going on in there. Suprised to see Theo making googly eyes at Marina, this is a Nintendo game after all! Ahahaha.

I would've traded the whole lava place for areas extending on the Western theme, but you can't have everything :(

As for S-ranks...I'm at 4.02 seconds away from an S-Rank in Sink or Float! which is one demanding level to get just right.

Hmmmm....

I own Mischief Makers, but aside from tossing it in to see what it was like, I haven't played it yet. I've got an N64 magazine put out by EGM with an entire walkthrough in it.

Looks like I'll have to spend some time with it.

MM is a great game! I'm addicted but I being the fool that I am, I loaned my cart to my friend. I think I have about a dozen S-ranks now. It takes a bit time to master the moves but it does pay in the end.

If you wanna compare your times with the sickest of MM players, check this:

Only a couple on Gitaroo Man (Which I though the topic was about :P). I may have got some on Mischief Makers, but I haven't played it in a few years and unfortunately, don't own it anymore.

Got my first (and probably only, for a while) S-Rank today! I did 10.38 seconds on Catastrophe (that's 3-10 I think), previous attempts were around 11:12 and such. I'm sure I could do better, too.

The amazing part is that I was able to get it done in the span of a few minutes after breaking the 12 sec. mark - I had to leave my house at 12:20 and that's when I did it...it was my last try before I had to leave.

I never even played Mischief Makers. :embarrassed:

But I did get an overall S in Neo Contra and Shattered Soldier. And I got straight perfect S-ranks (all categories) in GunValkyrie. and a handful here and there in Nightshade, and an SS ranking overall in Confidential Mission.

Two more today, in 5-2 (Counterattack) and 5-3 (Bee's the One!), with another coming up soon (Rescue Part 1).

Can't recommend this game strongly enough...though sometimes it does get frustrating. Right now I'm stuck (again) at Phoenix...blown through at least 600 red gems using full continues there.
