I collect mainly for 8-32bit consoles, NES was my first very own console and involves a lot of memories. I pick up older stuff like Atari and computer stuff of course but it's hard to get misty eyes over something launched before you were even born.
I can play, enjoy and appreciate a game and say:"Wow, this must have been a revelation in 19XX!" but that's about it really. I think Vectrex is the best example of that.
NES, PS and Mega Drive games are still to be found in flea markets (that's where I get pretty much all my NES games) but for SMS and Saturn stuff I have to use eBay and national auction sites. Oh, and this place of course!

I try my hardest to buy NEW games, especially when it comes to CD based games. Not so much for NES and SNES as long as all the inserts are present and N64 I can usually take a used cart as long as the outside is in perfect condition. Or if my friends can sell me their old crap, I'll take it. (I got 100% complete Secret of Mana, Secret of Evermore, Chrono Trigger, EarthBound, and Final Fantasy III from a friend last year for less than $100!!)

Yep, I always buy the game NEW on ebay, unless it's an expensive one. Then I just collect it with my other sealed games collection. If it's a resonable price though, I open and play.

Actually DP this post isn't the same as mine. Mine was about buying new NEW games and not opening them, not new OLD (8bit-16bit) games, theres a big difference.
Anways, here's my post from my topic
decided a few months ago to build a little sealed game collection. What I do is hit all the local stores and such looking for deals. If I find a new sealed game for 6 dollars or under I buy it. I've actually built up a neat little collection of mostly PS2 games (primal, Mad Maestro, turok evolution, The Hobbit, ect) and gamecube games (Star Wars Bouny Hunters, Die Hard Vandetta, ect). I even have a few dreamcast and N64 games from Toys R' Us. I know these games won't really increase in value, as most of them are iffy to boarderline sucky, but I just LOVE seeing all these sealed, fresh games sitting on my gaming shelf. Is anyone else doing this?

OH... so your topic is specifically "not old" games?
Very well, I shall unlock. Sorry I didn't see the difference.
