I have two of the 2 month xbox live trials.
Planned on using them for Halo 2, but as soon as i downloaded the Live update it screwed up my xbox, so now i get an error message any time i try to use live or access the main screen.
So these do me no good now. Looking to get $8.00 for the two of them or 4 a piece.

do you already have a two month trial set up???
you may just be getting the error msg because you are trying to update even though you dont have a live account, even a free one, set up

Basically what happened is this, I have an older xbox (not modded) so there is no xbox live directory on the dashboard when you boot up, unlike the new ones that do. So when i put in halo 2 the first thing i did was to go under xbox live.
Then it said it would need to update xbox live, it started downloading and then as soon as it finished, I got the Error screen message "Your xbox requrires service" with Error 21. I can still load up games, but if i try to access the dashboard or get into settings or something like that, i get the error, with red/green lights.
I know that it is the xbox live download that messed it up, proabaly a corrupt file they downloaded to my xbox or something.
So basically i can send it to them to fix for 79 bux or i can fix it myself and I have to put in a modchip to get rid of the corrupted live data so it will work like normal again.

Did you call service and ask them for the code to re-format the hard-drive to factory specs ?
All you have to do is call them and they'll ask for your information from one of the XBox screens and then they'll give you a code which might fix the problem.
You do lose all your saved games though.

I did call service to get the code but the guy that i talked to gave me the run around and kept trying to get me to send it in to be fixed for 79.00 bux. I planned on calling back tommorw.
