How much space can either hold?

With all of the DS's known specs-
How much space would be needed for 30 minutes of Game Engine Video and compressed Real Speach?
...
How much space would be needed for 30 minutes of Full Motion Video and compressed Real Speech?
...
How much space would be needed for 30 minutes of Full Motion Video and "live" Real Speech?

...Can DS handle FMV and Real Speech?
Would it be possible to make a GBA quality game (Golden Sun 3!) and add Real Speech and 30 minutes of FMV / Game Engine Video??

Of course DS can handle real speech...even the Game Boy can! (i.e. Rampart, and there was another game I think) Now the bitrate it'll play at, that's another thing entirely! I'm assuming it's got a more capable sound processor than the N64 since it's newer, and somebody on the boards was saying it can play stuff in surround (so they thought).

GBA made a thing a while back about how their new production processes allowed for 1 GBit (128 Mebibytes, for the really technical term that some Linux crazies have been advocating recently) cart sizes.

FMV and sound compression rates vary wildly. I think it's safe to assume nobody would go with clunky old MP3, but there's so many alternatives it's hard to give even an approximate range.

OK, I have something. Just something.

Majesco's new video compression technology presently allows viewing of approximately 45 minutes of quality color video with the capability to view 90 minutes of color video under development. The technology fits in a standard Nintendo-manufactured, Game Boy Advance cartridge and incorporates standard 'DVD-style' player controls. The technology features color video across 100 percent of the screen.
GBA doesn't have any onboard support for video compression or playback.

I'm assuming the DS does.

For a system like the DS, the amount of time you get doesn't matter so much as performance...developers will always go with the onboard stuff (assuming it's halfway competently done) because it provides a huge performance boost.

Those Majesco videos... they don't have the best quality of video. But, have you seen any videos of the cutscenes in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories? Those are amazing!

.

yeah the DS has better sound than the N64 cause the N64 has no real sound-chip.Both,graphic and sound, are done by one chip.
One of the many reasons the N64 was a beast to programm

Ed mentioned the Game Boy being capable of doing real speech. One other game I can think of off the top of my head that had it also was the GBC port of Vigilante 8. Sucks with that one though, it got annoying quick.
