looks really cool, but it seems there might be a shortage of characters:
tennis: 1 on 1 or 2 on 2
baseball: 9 on 9
if there are even 18 characters to use...then there sure wont be any variety, but im sure Nintendo will think of sumthin

oh sorry, i thought you meant number of players.
well, every franchise has at least 4 characters
i mean, with fireemblem you get a team. or two. hell 3 i believe.
yoshis? you color them!!
also all the baddies, plus advance wars, ice climbers, kirby, zelda, practically the whole rooster of ssbm, + the baddies from each one of those related characters.

Team Mario? well Mario would be the main player, and the rest could be Toads. With 2 possitions filled in by characters of choice...
Team Bowser? Well Bowser would be the main player and the rest could be Goombas. with 2 possitions filled by characters of choice...
Team Yoshi could just be a bunch of collored Yoshis. Team Koopa just a bunch of Koopas and Parakoopas and Hammer Bros.

This actually kinda reminds me of backyard baseball. You have more than enough characters for a simple baseball game, but season requires 1 or 2 actuall characters, and the other 7 are just random players that all look the same.
A simple game could have a "draft", like in Backyard Baseball. A season mode could be a whole team of Yoshis, or Toads. Or Wario with 8 Toad clones.
It could work, if it's just Mario universe characters only.

Hopefully this will be developed by the same team that did the last GC Famista baseball game.
Here's IGN's writeup. (http://cube.ign.com/objects/550/550152.html)
For those who don't know, a few of the NES Famista games were released under the title R.B.I. Baseball in the US.

Cursory research shows, quite obviously, that Hamtaro is nothing more then a licensed franchise, like Bond was at one time, or Ken Griffey Jr. Wish all you want, Hamtaro isn't a nintendo character. If it was, then I'd expect them to make a game BEFORE a comic, or cartoon.

This is great news! I am so excited for this game. I like all the mario sports games, and this one could be quality. I hope there aren't multiple characters on one team, infact I think it would be cool to split up teams by which games are they are form, but we will see. That is alot of players unless they do it like Nhl Hitz and make a shorter amount of players. Not sure how they would do that though. Only time will tell, and this game is DEFINATLY on the top of my want list.

Sure why not... Fale Speling in Grayed Skoul???
And I'm assuming you were trying to say that Popeye was the only licensed franchise Nintendo developed or published a game for.
GoldenEye 007, is most likely the Bond ubersaurus was referring to. Game is Copyrited Rare (developed) and Nintendo (published)... Mickey's Speedway USA? Published by Nintendo and Developed by Rare... And of Course Ken Griffy Jr. Baseball and NBA Courtside with Kobe Bryant (I don't know who developed those, LeftField?)...
Hamtaro games are indeed copyrite Nintendo, but thats just because it was their Software code, it was there Sound / Music put in to the game... They created it. The Hamtaro License itself belongs to someone else (I don't know who, and I don't care who... Hamtaro is pretty ummm... Stupid?)

Well, let me think of mario characters, or other franchises that've shown up in mario games...
Mario
Luigi
Wario
Waluigi
Toadstool
Daisy
King Koopa
Donkey Kong
the 8 Koopa Kids
Toad
Shyguy
Koopa Troopa/paratroopa
Snifit
Petey Pirahna
King Boo
Yoshi, in his various colorful versions
Diddy Kong
Hell, if they wanted to go real obscure, they could pull out Wart and Tatanga from SMB2 and Mario land.
And of course, if Namco is making it, I would not be surprised to see Pac-man in there in some form.

Magikoopa
Hammer Brothers
Baby Mario / Luigi / Bowser
Bowser Jr.
Isle Dolphino Resident
Nameless Yoshi Kid in Paper Mario 2 (I named it Boshi... yeah, THAT one)
Bob-Bomb
Goomba / ParaGoomba
Dr. Mario maybe
And of course Super Mario RPG characters, which have still yet to be used elsewhere...
Geno
Mallow
Booster
Axem Rangers
Frogfucious
Crocko (I THINK that was his name... Blue Crocodile thief...)

THIS GAME IS GOING TO KICK ASS.
If they just took every character from the Mario games and put them in this one it would be amazing.
That would make the teams diverse enough to play against in a sort of season mode.

Well, the mario rpg charactesr, I think, are owned by Square, so to use them, Nintendo has to clear it with them.
Geno did have a cameo in Mario & Luigi, though :-P
Then there's the wario ware characters, captain syrup, DK junior...god, there's alot of nintendo characters.

I would love if the game had a bunch of different themed fields. One based on the original SMB graphics would kick ass. I'm sure it will have themes like Tennis and Golf do. I can't wait to see this one.
What's next? Mario Football? Mario Hockey?? Mario Basketball???

READ!!! READ YOU DANG FOOL! AND MIND!! NOT MIDE! MIND! Why can't you READ a book and LEARN how to spell? I'm sorry, but I know I'm not the only one who is thinking this same thing. :eek 2: @_@ x_x
And "Called" and "Channel" and "Anyone". My head is spinning. I can't hold it in anymore! :( Go ahead and Moderate this post and delete it or edit it or PM me and yell at me. (I won't read it because I'll know exactly what it's about) Someone had to say it. :/
