Hey everyone,

I've heard there is some sort of save problem with Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy -- you get to some point, and when you save the game it erases it or something?

I'm trying to figure out what this is all about without reading through a FAQ and hearing more than I want to know about the game. At the same time, I don't want to get far in the game and then have my save wiped.

Can anyone tell me about this and if it happens or not? I have the Xbox version, I don't know if that matters.

By the way, for the price (under $10 new) this game seems to be rather incredible so far. It reminds me of Conker, only without the same level of humor and better graphics. If you don't have it and you like these sorts of games, I would totally suggest picking it up.

My Xbox version is unopened, and my GameCube version was too difficult during the first stage, so I didn't get that far. I haven't heard about a save problem yet though.

dont' know about the other platforms..but I ran into a very nasty save bug in the Cube version.

There is a part about 50% of the way through (Meaning...many hours played to get there...) where if you save the game after some event...and then die, well when you reload all the events reset. Normal, except one of the events required a door to open for you when you approached it. The door only opens when the enemies have all been defeated. Well, on this reload the enemies are already gone and dead, but the door is still closed. Apparently this is a scripting bug and doesn't always happen. The main solution is to save the game before taking on the enemy in this part of the game, and then onece you get past it..go through the stupid door and then save at the next save point.

I did enouncter this bug and thought I had done something wrong. For like 3 hours I wandered around backtracking and finally decided to look online to see what I had missed. Turns out, I had enounctered this damn scripting bug that happens from time to time at this particular point in the game. So I had to restage since I had only been using one save point...ugh...

Let me see if I can find something about it...

nah...I found a refrence to it in an FAQ section of a walkthrough. According to the walkthrough the above glitch I mentioned happens on all platform so of this game. Basically they recommend to not save the game and just complete this section. Then save at the next point when you can.

Honestly, I'd suggest attempting to play it a little bit again. I thought the first part was too tough for a while too, until I actually watched the intro part instead of just jamming the button to get there. I've probably had the game for three months, but I know I'll be playing it a lot more now that I'm past that part.

Thanks! Can you tell me any more about this part, or should I just save in two slots if I can? I didn't want to go through an FAQ because I don't want to know about the upcoming puzzles, but if it doesn't crash my game hours in, I would totally appreciate it :D
