I thought about it, but I really don't have the money right now, and the DC version is doing me just fine.

I was thinking about getting it. I probably will. I don't have the cash right now, but hopefully on the 30th, I'll have the money. I've never ever played a Mr. Driller game, but from the videos on IGN, I think it looks pretty cool.

Anyone that has a chance to pick up one and doesn't is just making a dumb move. Rumor has it first release is only going to be 2,500 which makes this a possible rarity. I bet it's re-released cause alot of people want it though. I am picking it up for gameplay pretty much, I love Mr. driller and this one looks like fun. :-P

...or you can also say the people who are buying it are dumb because their reason for purchasing the game is solely based on rumor (if that's the only reason they are getting it).

I'm getting it for sure, It's already preordered. I'm buying it solely for play value- Mr. Driller is my favorite puzzle game of all time, and I can't wait to try this new one.

You just called alot of people here dumb. Alot of people here picked up the blockbuster titles and some other random games because of future rarity. Keep in mind a large portion of us here are collectors as much as gamers.

And if that was suppose to be some kind of jab at me, it was a poor one. Cause like I stated it I am Mr. driller fan (and DS fan :P ).

I'll admit. I have never ever played or even seen Mr. Driller in action. I really want to get into the action, so it's on my Christmas list. But I've never played it or seen it. So I go to GameSpot to check out a video and in EVERY BROWSER IT PLAY IT IN, it CRASHES! Safari and FireFox both crash right after the damn advertisement!

So I tried PlanetDreamcast and they use cuddling FILEPLANET! Dammit!

Not even Namco.com has a video of it in action!

Someone out there doesn't want me to see the game being played. Can someone please enlighten me to how the game looks in action? I've been burned on puzzle games before. :(

Yeah, and you just called anyone who *isn't* picking up Driller dumb too. That's the point I was trying to make.

If there were 2 million systems preordered like Nintendo claims, that would mean that they only expect 1 in 800 DS owners to purchase Mr Driller DS. If Nintendo expects 4 million sold by March like they said, that's 1 in 1600 owners...

Why would they do that when only what... five titles are out? And puzzle games are always a popular portable style game. I really can't imagine that they are only going to churn out 2500 of them...

I never got into Mr. Driller. I've played it on DC and I've got it on GBA. For Some reason it never did anything for me.

Is there anything special about the DS version that makes it any different than the oither incarnations? Besides Mario 64 DS, I'm really drawing the line and only purchasing software that takes advantage of what the DS can do - games that untilize both screens and the touch interactivity.

If the dynamic of mr driller has changed due to the touch screen, then please enlighten me. I just never understood the appeal of this one. I don't mean to say "your game sucks." I just want to know why so many people are so excited about it, besides the rarity aspect.

Well, Mr. Driller has a sort of uniquesness to it... kind of like "reverse Tetris" in a sense. I can't exctly explain the appeal, but it's very addicting for me. Mr. Driller is probably my favorite puzzle game, with the Kururin series in second.

I've said it before. The only way I'm going to get it is if it has Time Attack mode. I just don't get how that could be ignored on so many handhelds before (both GBC and Wonderswan.) It's by a margin the most fun mode. Once I confirm that it has Time Attack, I will buy it. And Ridge Racer.

Mr. Driller Ace (GBA) and Mr. Driller Great (PS1) have both had some form of internet score ranking via passwords. But whether or not Namco will be cool enough to do that for the US version of Drill Spirits remains to be seen.

Okay, just got the game today. Overall, I like it, but since I own Mr. Driller Ace, it's not quite as impressive of a step up. The single player Driller Grand Prix is gone, replaced with the Time Attack mode from the original. The Time Attack stages seem quite diverse so far (I've only done 3 or 4).

Pressure mode is an interesting addition. Some weird satan drill thing comes down from the top of the tunnel, and you have to pick up power capsules (in addition to air capsules) and throw fireballs up at its underside when it's open. I'd imagine this gets REALLY frantic on the higher levels.

In terms of A/V, I'm not impressed. Ace for the GBA had much better audio, especially considering the atrocity of the English dubbing in Drill Spirits. And graphically, this is no better or worse than the GBA version with the obvious exception of increased screen space.

Not that this is a bad game by any means. It's just that it's not too much more than Mr. Driller Ace. So if you haven't played the GBA import, this will be an excellent step up from the 1st US version.

I'm pissed... I've had this game preordered at EB's website since 30/10, yet my own order has not shipped yet :/

EDIT: Apparently it shipped a few minutes ago. Now, I wait...

I picked it up today also. I only played Mr. Driller for 5 minutes back in my burn-a-DC game every hour on the hour phase in college. (Oh hush, I gave them all away 2 years ago) So it was basically new to me, and I enjoyed it. A little disappointed with the DSity of it, as you can tap blocks with the stylus, but it's kinda easier to use the D-pad and buttons. The dual screen was nice, but I really never looked up at it unless I was playing Pressure Driller mode. I can see the top screen giving you advantages in the normal mode, but time attack (very cool by the way) is too furious to even bother looking up.

Recommended.

Went to buy it and Game Crazy's cc machine is down for the day. Useless. Was gonna get a PS2 memory card and a DS carrying case, too. Can you say, no sales today?

Perhaps I'll wait to buy that and Ridge Racer together.

For those who have the US version, a report states it is missing one mode compared to the Japanese version and is multicard multiplayer only (whereas the Japanese version is single card). True or not?

My friend and I really want the game, but I'm broke. He has money, and has been looking to get it, but everywhere he goes, they don't have it. Where'd you guys get yours?

I don't have a US version, but I have all the information i need to know about it. There is a missing mode, Drillstone, in the US. Also, you need jultiple carts for the US version, while the Japanese version only needs one. Also, the Japanese release came with a spiffy DS bag:

So I say, screw the US version. I'm importing it.

Well, I've NEVER played Mr. Driller before. But I went to a Game Works today, and they had Mr. Driller there. SO I tried it, and it was a blast. I want it more than ever now. It's a good thing I celebrate Channukah AND Christmas, so I can get the game this Wednesday, and not have to wait til the 25th. I'd much prefer to get the Japanese version, like I said before, but I guess the US version will do.

Well, I got the game this Sunday, and I want to tell everyone what I think about it, not that you care though.

I got the game at GameStop, and brought my DS with me to play along during the car drive home. I pop it in, and when I play it, there's just a very basic menu screen, but that doesn't bother me or anything. I go to Mission Driller, select Susumu, and start. This is only my second time ever playing Mr. Driller, so I know I'll suck pretty bad, but when I play... I suck terribly. I die almost instantly. No problem, I think, as it's only my first time playing it, so I try it again. I lose again.

Well, when I got home, I kept playing, trying to develop better skills, and finally, I get it. And I love it. The game is awesome, now that I know what the hell I'm doing. It's very easy, yet extremely hard at the same time, and I love it. The gameplay is simplistic, yet addictive, and makes me want to play more and more. But it's hard enough to make me keep dying over and over again, and make me want to keep playing until I'm lucky enough to make it to the goal. Then I tried Pressure Driller and Time Driller. They're both very fun as well, and I love playing Pressue Driller.

Needless to say, this game is definitely worth the 30 bucks. I don't see what the fuss is about, and why people don't like it that much. This game is a great puzzler, that I will play for hours on end. I guess it kind of sucks that the extra mode that the Japanese version had isn't in this one, but I don't think it really needs it, as whats already in it is enough for me. And I don't really care about single cartridge multiplayer, because I only know two other people with the DS, and one has it, and the other is getting it.

I am enjoying the game for, yes, you guessed it, TIME ATTACK mode. It definintely doesn't use the DS to advantage, and it's much better with the control pad, which, IMHO, sucks. It is too easy while pushing down to activate down-left or down-right, which can screw up your accuracy.

I do prefer to play GBA games on the DS because the controls are further apart than the cramped (but very cute) SP and the screen can be a little higher, causing less neck discomfort.

My hands and neck agree with you completely.
