Imports yay, homebrews yay, "back-ups" boo!
I don't know if it still allows burned games to run and I couldn't care less, all I want to do is smash my Freeloader with a hammer. I have a wad of cash in my hand, who has these in stock?

I can't do it... I finally went straight when I bought the Gamecube and decided not to pirate ermm.. "backup" any more games. And I'm the king of backups over here.. my friends used to say I needed to wear an eyepatch :/

holy crap
will people EVER learn? i guess NO
There is STILL NO WAY to burn GC-games.NO "MODCHIP" will change this. Why?Simply, cause there's no (home-)DVD-burner which can actually burn this format.POINT!
All this modchip does is that you don't need a copy of PSO anymore to boot game-images through the modem.
also the GC-homebrewn scene is far more sophisticated than you think:
Believe me when I say that I played "DOOM"(yeah the original),"Golden Axe" and "R-Type" on my friends GC last time I visited him?I guess no
but you know what.....I really did.

You sure it's people? If I recall, and I do actually, you can't burn DC games either - the format is incompatible with burners. Guess what? Add a bootstrap and it'll boot the code right up with its new format. That's more than likely what is going to happen here. They'll find a way to boot custom code, and they'll convert the game code into this format so it can be played. It's been done before.

there's a huge difference between GC-mini DVDs and DC GDs.
The GC and his DvDs are filled with copy-protections and anti-pirate stuff. GC DVDS are read from the inside to the outside, etc etc
the time you can burn your own GC games is when the "Revolution" is long-released.
Hell,GC is 3 years old and all the hackers(GC-games want to burners) have is...
mmh yeah NOTHING

Yes, but if the GC is running replacement code for the BIOS, then the copy protection checks aren't being run. So as long as the drive itself is electronically capable of reading a mini-DVD burned with a consumer drive, it could work.

What they're hoping with this, is that there will be a way to get around the streaming bandwidth problem.
Maybe this will allow games to be streamed at a much faster rate to get around the PSO limit.
