BioWare has redefined computer/console RPGs in the past few years, from Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights to KOTOR and the upcoming action-RPG Jade Empire.
So, which is your favorite game of theirs, and why?
And before someone points out that I didn't include Icewind Dale, that's because the game wasn't developed by BioWare, even though it was based on the Baldur's Gate engine and published by Black Isle. And it's the same thing for KOTOR II.

I voted for Baldur's Gate because it marked the first time that a D&D-licensed game came so close to reproduce the pen-and-paper RPG world, despite its shortcomings and imperfections.
Without BG, there wouldn't have been a Neverwinter Nights and, ultimately, a KOTOR.

I voted for MDK2. It's an awesome and challenging action game with great graphics. Truth be told, I don't like any of Bioware's RPGs that much. I was looking at the list wondering 'where the heck is Planescape: Torment', but it turns out that too was developed by Black Isle. Torment is one of my top five RPGs though, for sure (behind Fallout 1/2 and Shining Force).
The Baldur's Gate games were quite good, but pale in comparision to Torment. Icewind Dale I thought was okay, but it was too much of a straightforward dungeon hack for my tastes. Not a big fan of NWN or KOTOR at all.

As I've said above, Icewind Dale is NOT a BioWare game...

I liked Torment better than any of those games. Was that a Bioware game?

Nope. The titles listed in the poll are all that BioWare has ever worked on. Anything that's not in the poll, wasn't developed by them.

I'll have to go with BG2: SoA then.

I voted for Baulder's Gate, as it is the only game on that list I've played so far.

Who's making KOTOR II then?

According to Gamespot, the development of KOTOR 2 is being done by Obsidian, for LucasArts: http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/rpg/kotor2/index.html?q=knights+old+republic

My vote goes to Neverwinter Nights. Yeah, Baldur's Gate was revolutionary in the regard that LJ mentioned, but the issue at hand is what is my favorite BW game.
Plus, I just suck at Baldur's Gate. Don't ask me why. Beat NWN easily, suck at the Gate. I almost always die at the part near the beginning where you go to a tavern or somesuch, this guy walks up to me, says stuff, then replicates and proceeds to decimate me with replicated fireballs from said replicants.

But IWD is so goood, cant you make an exception :(
I didnt really like NWN or KOTOR, but i liked Baldurs gate up until it stopped working and crashed everytime i got to a certain point (nashkal mines to be excact). My vote is with BG2 then, even though i never finished it because i wanted to finish the first one to understand the back story.
Oh these webs we spin :eek 2:

Had I known that people would get so confused between BioWare and Black Isle, I would've made my poll about Black Isle instead...
Oh well. Live and learn, as they say...
