Yup Walmart will have the sales but unless you feel like being hit by 40 year old moms, I recommend not trying to go there.

I am going with my Aunt to Target. First time I have ever done it, and im not sure why im doing it but cheap gamecube games just sounds so good. So yea, for some odd reason I am going shopping tommorow.

Nah, I'm broke, and most of the Christmas presents I'm planning to buy are weird obscure stuff that I'll have to shop online for.

sorry for re-asking this...but so far no one answered.

If I'm gonna be freezing my ass off on a bike tomorow it better be for a reason - i hope you guys understand.

Is this "30% off crazyness" only for big department stores (Walmart, K, Target) ...or is it also for small stores (Gamespot, EbGames)

Plizz help - I'm new to this "living in the US" thing

I'll probably browse for an hour or two before heading off to work at GameStop.

The day after Thanksgiving, known as "Black Friday", has become the biggest shopping day of the year. In what has become a tradition, retailers put a lot of their items on sale, and people dying for a good deal all run to the stores for the great bargains. There's no hard rule where everything's 30% off -- every store is different, so you'll have to check around your area to find who has what deals (pick up a local newspaper, it'll be stuffed with black friday sales).

As for me, I'm doing the same thing I do every year. Using Mapquest and my GPS software, I'll go through and plot every major department store where there will be crazy shoppers. Then, using those programs, I'll plot a place at least 50 miles away, and go there.

I don't even like shopping on normal days. Black Friday? Funk dat.

30% off everything was a bit of an overstatement. For the record, I didn't see any PS2 bundles under $150...mind you, I did see bundles that had 3-5 free games for $150...so YMMV
But if you're new to the US I highly recommend going out just to take in the experience...it's something you will likely never forget. :D

wait so it is not 30% off on everything? :hmm:

even when speaking of wallmart or K?

and i had such a great plan for getting a PS2  x_x X_x :hmm:

I'll be going to Best Buy with my girlfriend. I'm not buying anything, but she's gonna try and snag a cheap copy of Roller Coaster Tycoon 3. I may buy an RF modulator so I can hook up my SNES to a $5 t.v I got the other day.

Right. No hard rule about 30% off....there are items that aren't on sale at all (read that as everything I want) to well over 50%. Each store is different. Again, I highly recommend going if you never have...check out the lines before the stores open. Watch for fist fights at the cart rack. Millions of people go into debt tomorrow. Great stuff :D

The advertisements in this year's paper look rather.....lame.

Really nothing to get excited about. You get a free game (Metroid Fusion) with the purchase of a GBA SP @ C.C., and I think at Best Buy, you get a free crappy starter pack with purchase of a system. These are mostly normal every day sales.

The only really good prices I noticed were for WD hard drives...

heck - i might just go for the expirience...like u said

but it would be nice to pay less for that GBA SP and PS2 I was planning to buy LOL  ...and as you said u never saw those on sale :(

by the way - what time do the stores open?
A: Dep. stores
B: Game butiques

Two words: hell and NO.

After working retail for about 10 years, I'm not going near any store that isn't a liquor store for the next few days. When I worked overnights, there would be people lining up at 3 AM to get in... ridiculous and pathetic if you ask me.

I was thinking about going to EB, but I probably won't. It's not worth dealing with the crowds.

Not too many sales interest me this year, but I'm still going out. I usually have several items targeted every year as "must-buy," but this year, I'll just go and see what catches my interest. Probably a recipe for financial disaster, but that's all I got for now. Like somebody already mentioned, there are some real good bargains on hard-drives, if one is willing to wait for the rebate check. The best I saw was $39 for a 180 gig HD after rebate.

Yeps...I went just for the heck of it. It was really something u can never forget. Standing in big lines (a bit like communism ;) ) ...getting people to smash carts into u....etc. etc.

I also got myself few nice things:
- GBA fpr 39$
- Max Payne 2 X-box for 10 (Xmas gift for a friend)

and bro who went with me got himself
- some Palm
- 100 recordable DVDs
- free 128MB Mp3
- 526MB memory card (for palm)
- some other stuff i can't remember

Overall da savings were around $200 - lol...I'm starting to like this crazy country LOL LOL LOL

EDIT: + it was fun to see people practically fight for the DS
