Holy crap, have you seen the feedback for that second bidder?!?!?!

He has 5434 feedbacks (2786 from different users) and a 100% +ve rating(and he seems to be a pretty regular seller too). Surely that is some kind of record?

I mean, I like to think that I have been pretty much impeccable in ebay dealings, and I still picked up two negs (both from idiot NPBs!!)

How does he still have a 100% positive feedback rating when he actually has one neutral? Do neutrals not count towards your rating?

How does he still have a 100% positive feedback rating when he actually has one neutral? Do neutrals not count towards your rating? Neutrals do not affect your FB rating at all. A positive moves you up by 1 point. A neg drops you by 1 point. A neutral - no effect.

maybe he "bought off" any negatives he did get over the years?

A neutral may not add a point or subtract a point but you shouldn't be able to have a 100% feedback rating with neutrals on your record. Its just not 100% positive.

If you are a member of Square Trade they can remove negative feedback for 10.00. If you are not a member it will cost you 20.00. I think either way it is a rip off! So maybe that is what happened.

he only has 1 neg, that is still pretty good.

if he was buying to get rid of them, he probably would have gotten rid of them all

No. I've definitely seen it hit $150 without the manual at least twice.

I don't think this is even the record for MSF with manual.
