Thats why you shop before black Friday. Try ebgames.com or gamestop.com or videogamedepot.com

If they're out find out when the next shipment will be at your retailer (bestbuy, circuit city, etc) thats how I got mine. (ask monday when it slows down some) and be there at opening time.

Have you tried CompUSA, Best Buy, Sears, Amazon, Outpost.com or other large retailers?

There are a ton of options to buy online.

He's right. Just go to your local retailer and ask about the next arrival. They should be able to tell you when's the next ETA (estimated time of arrival). Chances are they'll get more PSTwos before Christmas.

Black Friday in the U.S is the day after Thanksgiving. Since most people have it off from work everyone goes shopping and there are insane deals at almost every single major retailor in the country. Most stores open up at about 5:30-6am and stay open later.

I would assume that it got the name Black Friday because it's always on a Friday and because no one who works in retail looks foward to it since the stores are busy non stop from open to close.

It is called Black Friday because all of the shopping activity pushes retailers "into the black" in their sales numbers.

You know I never thought of it that way...pretty funny take on it LOL

Actually, the origin of Black Friday comes from the shift to profitability during the holiday season. Black Friday was when retailers went from being unprofitable, or "in the red," to being profitable, or "in the black", at a time when accounting records were kept by hand and red indicated loss and black profit.

That's what it says in the article on cnn.com

Look at Black Friday as the US equivalent to Boxing Day (except that it takes place a month before Christmas instead of the day after Christmas).

Even at EB here in Canada, we get e-mails telling us "Black Friday is upon us" from head office with our morning paperwork. Usually it just goes over how the shit is about to hit the fan and splatter so get ready to cover your faces. And that's around the time when managers begin 6-day work weeks for the same pay.

It's not too bad in Canada since our thanksgiving is in October, so Black Friday only exists here in name. Boxing Day is much, much worse for us. God, I hope it's not that bad this year.

Back on the topic of PStwo's. I've noticed they've started to sell more brisk than usual, yes. Head to some stores like EB and see if you can put down a deposit to guarantee one from the next shipment. We love it when you put deposits down on things.

Go to a Gamestop or a Ebgames and reserve one. They were doing that with DS systems. I would imagine they would do it with other stuff.

Edit
I should have fully read the post above mine. x_x

Sony does this deliberately and then they sell them for $500 on eBay[/conspiracy-theory]

But seriously, it has been hard to get the PS2/PStwo for months now at my store. We had about 30 of them last time I was at work though, no doubt they got sold this morning, though.

With all the cash you'll waste on gas driving around, I'd just head straight for eBay - or pain a PSOne black and tell them the Army Men 3-Pack is "this years hottest gift".

Black Friday is also the #1 busiest shopping day of the year.

Thanksgiving Day is the 2nd busiest day for movie Theatres, with Christmas being #1. Damn I don't miss those movie theatre management days!

I went to all the EBgames in my home toen today and one Gamestop (four stores in all)

They were ALL out of PStwos. Pretty stupid on Sony's part?

Hell if I know.

Cheers :D

I'm so screwed :eek 2: @_@ :(

Dude you have like 5 weeks till Christmas so stop wigging out. I'm sure you'll find one before then. Check your Wal-Mart around 12 or 1 am. Cause hardly anyone is in there at that time and they re-stock at night so I'm sure you could grab one then. :D

Where videogames are concerned, thinking you have plenty of time and "I'll get it later" isn't always the best course of action. My credo is to buy things I want when I see them, or be prepared to never have them. Because sometimes stuff just disappears, or you get screwed, or some other random thing happens and you end up missing out because you waited.

Head to an EB or wherever you buy games and order one. Don't wait.

Check out the stores around you that you would'nt think of for game systems -- places like Wal-Mart, KMart, Target, KB Toys, Toys R Us. JC Penny, and other places.

Failing that, place a depoist on one at a store like EB Games or Gamestop and ask when the next shipment is due in.

As a last restort, you can buy it from Amazon -- that's actually how I got mine in early 2001 when they were still hard to find.

AHA!!! He WAS telling the truth!!!

I had to ask a rep of ours today what the hell "Black Friday" was. I'm a mechanic in a mountain bike shop here in Canada.......we don't have a Christmas season OR a boxing day in the bike biz. Our year ends when racing season ends. (it's nice...no holiday burnout!!!)
