I'm sorry, I know this has been brought up before, but I couldn't find the thread for the life of me.

I'm sick and tired of trying to play Halo2 and other FPS's with the damn controller and not being able to aim properly.

Anybody using these?

Anybody know where I can get these?

Doesn't a forum member sell these? I can't remember who.

Do these work with all the new FPS's? ARe they mappable?

TIA,

D

I would be interested in these too, although because I want to put linux on my xbox.

My friend has a keyboard and mouse adaptor. He uses it for halo 2-although you can only turn as fast as the sensitivity rating, you can map the keyboard controls (although obviously you have to write it down, since ingame it won't say). He likes it, although I'm a controller player, so I never bothered.

I got it a couple weeks ago, and I just beat the game last night with the Xbox Pad.

Cut from another board I post on:
I have yet to spend any deep time with it, but it would be pretty much useless during the campaign unless you can turn that damn autoaim off. I've still got lots of messing around to do with it, but when you inheirently translate something as fallable as an analog stick to something as precise as a mouse, it's bound to give you troubles.

All analog sticks have a dead zone. Tiny increments of angle where tilting it just slightly will do nothing, so if you move your mouse just a little bit, it'll think it's the dead zone. There are different settings for it but it'll take you quite some time to get it just right for your particular style of play. I've also found the in-game sensitivity settings to be ridiculously spaced, either way too slow or way too fast. You've got to try a multitude of settings

I also think the game just wasn't designed for keyboard/mouse play. It doesn't really translate anywhere near as well as the first game would have, as you're likely going to be using left click for your right trigger, and right click for your left trigger. I personally use mouse wheel button for reload, so that's x, and I can SWAP weapons well enough... but I need another button on the mouse for Y so I can dual wield on the fly. I've got the mouse wheel scroll set to Y so I can switch weapons quickly (and that works fantasticly well), but I can't hold down a scroll :/ Also, there's no right click available for secondary functions, and I've found NO good place for the B button. Perhaps pinky on shift could work for that, and spacebar works great for A.

I'm confident I'll find a happy medium with it somewhere, but for now I'm just going to continue enjoying the campaign with the controller, then when I can get my [censored] connection to work correctly I'll deal with the SmartJOY and start rocking shit online.

Now I can spend some time with it, but I don't know if I want to. So many other games to play...
