Personally, for me, it's "Eyes On Me" from Final Fantasy VIII. Ick. I've heard a lot of people say it's a good song, but I dunno. I guess I'm not a fan of sappy, sentimental mushy stuff.

What music makes you cringe every time you hear it?

I nominate Bad Dudes' epic score.

Exed Exes / Savage Bees. It's so bad, it's almost kinda pretty in a "get that cat off the piano!" kinda way. LOL

the music from the original metroid is the most horrid songs ive ever heard. they sound like a little kid poking the keys of a keyboard.

The soundtrack for Burnout 3 gets my vote for worst music in an otherwise great game.

Hands down the original Double Dragon. It had to have *the worst* boss theme music ever in a videogame. Who couldn't forget their first time seeing the mighty Abobo busting threw the brickwall with he's shitty boss music playing. LOL Man it sounded like they gave a drunken one armed chimp a broken keyboard and let him go at it.

Original Metroid music bad?

EYES ON ME - BAD?

Holy hell in a handbasket - worst thread ever.

I'm a big fan of the tunes from Double Dragon.. they really stick in your head. Although I'll agree that the boss music isn't that great.

Personally, I'll have to nominate Spiderman:The Animated Series for the Genesis. I'm sure most of you haven't played this game, but the music is downright awful.

The SMS version of Ghostbusters. Incredibly horrid, I felt shoving a stick into my ear just to relieve the aural pain.

It pains me to do this, but I'll going to have to go with my avatar.
Man, the music from wall street kid is sooo repetitive, the only times they mix it up at all are when you are shopping with your girlfriend / wife and when you are on your honeymoon.

The rest of the time its the same old thing....
Na na na na na na na na na na-na-na-n-n-na-na na doo do doo doo do d-d-do da doo doo doo doo do!

Um, probably doesn't translate well into the na-do-da musical scale. :D

Whoa..that sounds pretty interesting. Japan has some good bands, like Sabbat. :)

Though I don't know whether to love it or hate it, the music from SNK's Psycho Soldier (arcade, '80s) might be an appropriate thing to discuss here.

Anybody remember this game? The game itself is nothing too special, just an autoscrolling platformer/shooter. What always drew me to the cabinet was the music. In the background is the typical late-eighties FM synthesized crappy electric guitars and what-not; mixed over all of that is digitized singing by some Japanese girl desparately trying to translate some lyrics into English that are all about Athena (the same character from the notoriously questionable NES and arcade game) who is one of the playable characters. Whoa, it's bad. But it's so wierd and hilarious that it actually makes the game rad.

"She's just a little girl with power inside/you better hide if you are baaaaaaad"
:bawling: So poignant; gets me every time.

It's easy to pick on the 8-bit games... there's only so much to work with.

Then again, some games managed.

One game that did NOT manage (and should have) was Star Trek: Star Fleet Academy for the Super Nintendo

It's just AWFUL. 10 notes of music in a maddening loop. The 32x version is just as bad, but the 32x didn't have the excellent sound of the SNES. It beat the shit out of the SNES graphics-wise, but the SNES had a fine sound chip.

Awful. Terrible. Dreadful. Nausea inducing.

Cheers

Volguard II (Famicom), terrible music for a terrible shmup. Stage 1 music just repeats 6 notes. your ears will bleed in a matter of less than 5 minutes.

I agree with whoever said the Double Dragon boss music. That stuff is terrible.

Biometal for the SNES has some of the worst music for a game of its genre. If the music was in a hockey game or something, it would be OK.

I'm gonna have to go against my DP handle and say "A Boy and his Blob."

Just terrible, terrible stuff.

I agree; A Boy And His Blob did feature some pretty headache-inducing music.

I personally can't stand the music featured in Sony's Gran Turismo games. The songs included tend to be so popular that I can't stand to listen to 'em because they've been overplayed and overused by the media in general.

I hate the Peace Keepers for its music... or rather, lack of music, as its Japanese counterpart, Rushing Beat Shura had some noice tunes to kick ass to. I refuse to play the American version... YOU CAN'T MAKE ME, JALECO OF AMERICA!!!
