I happened on a link in some other forums a few weeks ago that MS was shipping out free (well, you have to pay shipping) copies of it's Xbox Live Arcade disc. This is basically a free kit to generate interest and give you access to their recently launched service. Best of all, it comes with Ms. Pac Man on the disc! It's only $4.99 to get it shipped to your door, so I'd say it's worth it. I'm not a real big collector so much as a gamer, but I'd imagine it's probably worthwhile for scarcity's sake to go ahead and pick one up. It comes in a thin slipcase, like the cheap DVDs you see at the dollar stores sometimes. Haven't played it yet, but I'll post some impressions when I do, just thought I'd give everyone a heads up!

I think we had a thread about this not too long ago ... Anyways, I think MS blew it on this one. They coulda been dumping killer old-school scoreboard-enabled games over the Live service for $5 a pop; instead they're charging $10-$20 for flash-type puzzlers. Still, I've got mine coming just in case they pull their head out and do something feasible with this.

They don't ship to Puerto Rico. They suck. :(

I clicked the link in that thread and ordered it back then. It arrived yesterday. Haven't opened it yet! Forgot all about it.

Well, ordered one for the hell of it, 5.00 is nothing and maybe this one will be a hard one to find!

I ordered it after DP featured it, pretty cool with the free Mrs. pacman but the other games are a little much, some go for up to $30cdn for some which you can play one pogo or gameblast for free.

Well, I put it in today and wasn't impressed with it at all (which is what I assumed would be the case). Free Ms. Pac Man is nice, but they want too much for all the other downloadable games ($9.99 for most). Sorry, I don't care if your version of Breakout does support 720p, it's still a breakout clone and not worth money to me. They need to drastically reduce prices and diversify the lineup if they hope this to be any good. Most feel like mediocre homebrews and the rest are just games you can play for free online. Not worth the time to seriously invest in these games.

I've had the disc for a while now but I keep not playing it... ell, I've already got Ms Pacman on Namco Museum for the Xbox so I don't really have any reason to play this.

I thought about ordering it, then decided I didn't want to waste $5.34. I already have Ms. Pac-Man and I doubt the disk will be worth anything since in like 5 years it will be useless because the servers will be long gone. Plus ten bucks is waaay too much for those games. If M$ smartens up and starts selling the games for like a buck or two I'll get the disk then and sign up. Untill then I'll continue playing all my other games for $4 a month.

About the servers being long gone: Don't forget that the Dreamcast Broadband Adapter still goes for a shitload on the 'bay.

I got one through Gamestop. Came in one of those slim DVD cases, much like the ones used in Official Xbox Magazine. The front of the case has Mech Assault 2 on it, the back has XBL Arcade. The disc inside contains nothing on MA2--I guess it's a clever way to get the Arcade disc out? I dunno.

I popped it in and checked it out. What a complete and total waste. I feel sorry for people who don't realize that much of that stuff is available elswhere at a much cheaper price.

Why can't Midway Arcade just have an Xbox live component?

I was complaining about the prices a while back, too. Few of us are going to pay $10 to play any 100kb game online. Companies need to start accepting the reality of small fry transactions. $1 here, $3 there- most of us are more comfortable with those kinds of purchases on a regular basis.

And, yes, it is moronic when there are all kinds of puzzlers and arcade games already available online via a pc for free. Most Xbox live gamers have broadband for their pcs first and foremost.
