I picked up an Xbox Launch Team system this weekend - you can see pics http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=62054&item=8148482080&rd=1 here. 4 have sold in the last month, but I'd never seen one on the bay before this month, and I know for a fact that less than 100 of these exist. I had the system listed in my "personal guide" at $2000, but ended up getting it for quite a bit less than that (I traded the guy my projector - Infocus X1 - plus cash). If you want one, I highly recommend getting the one for sale now with 900 BIN. These are certainly comparable to the 10 Million Model PSX as far as rarity is concerned.

Sweet!

you call that a find? just kidding! So are you going to play on it or have it on display. Does anyone hear collect xbox systems? Like actually try to get every different xbox made?

I know some people might do. I don't see how it would be any different than collecting another system. Except how much space they would all take up. X_x This website has quite a few if not all of the models of the xbox released. The pictures take forever to load up though.

I'm collecting all the NTSC-U/C releases: Black, Halo, Crystal, Canadian Blue, Debug, Launch Team, Mt. Dew Light Green so far.

And I'm definitely not going to use it for play - too expensive to risk.

My girlfriend would leave me, then come back, break all my shit, kill me, defecate on my lifeless body, then leave again.

She puts up with a lot, but not THAT much.

I have to say that's pretty cool :)

I would like to at least see one though I don't imagine there are many over this side of the pond!

Xxme...These were sold only to people who worked on a group Microsoft USA put together called the Xbox Launch Team - I'd imagine nearly everyone who owns one currently was in that group. One of these sold for almost 1000 dollars a couple weeks ago, and a few have sold since then as word spread at MS about the value of the kit (or so I'm told).

That's a cool find, but I don't think I would ever pay that much for a system. By the way, was the signature real or was it just printed?

Wow, definitely not for me.

If I found THE FIRST Atari 2600 system ever manufactured, and it actually had a serial number of 000001 and was signed by all the bigwigs, and came with... I have no idea, a lot of other stuff that is ridiculous.... then MAYBE I would pay $200 for it (If I were planning on keeping it, which I wouldn't, I would sell it in a heartbeat)

Paying almost a thousand for a piece of plastic that does (and pretty much looks) the EXACT same thing as another piece of plastic next to it valued at under $100 isn't for everyone I suppose.

Console prices are crazy, but...there are tons of 500+ consoles, and a decent number of 1000+ consoles (Video System X, 10 Million Model, D-Direct Dreamcast, etc.). If you want the goods, you have to pay the price.

...and if you want the goods for a good deal you gotta get em early. I'd imagine this puppy would bring some bills in the future.

I mean com'n, who's this Bill Gates fellow anyways?

How about a piece of paper? or to be exact, the 1952 Mick Mantle card. Its worth about 250.000 dollars. You can't really look at what stuff is made of when your estimating its value. Even a 100 dolllar bill costs mere cents to make.

Is that reliable information? Does anyone have reliable info on how many of these were made?

I'm not sure about that figure. I'd heard that folks who worked on the XBox team got one - maybe not everybody, sure, but that could be well over a hundred people. Hmm.

so how do you know if it is real?, with so many counterfit signitures on ebay and with xbox modding popular this wouldnt be hard to duplicate. I wouldnt buy something like this off ebay, but thats just my opinion. If it is real, its pretty cool :?

Two different guys (who work at Microsoft) gave me figures under 100 for their estimates on the LT2001 production run. They were going to give this system out (for free) to the Microsoft Launch Team (a US group that Gates was particularly happy with in the runup to the US launch), but for some reason, the accounting folks wanted to charge a nominal fee rather than give the system away. Because of this, of the 2-300 people on the XB launch team, under 100 actually had one ordered. It would be tough to "fake" this because the old-style controller was never released in green, while this system comes with 2 old-style big green controllers.

I didn't buy the auction I linked to - mine was bought off of ebay from a guy who still works for MS.

And here is another one: EA On Live Xbox. (http://www.majornelson.com/blog/2004/11/very-limited-edition-xbox.html)

I think this one looks pretty cool. If I was a bigger EA fan I'd definately want one.

That is so friggin' cool. Really smart to pick one up now, if you're into this sort of thing. I really like Xbox, so I could picture it, but due to space and sanity limitations, I should avoid such things. I am looking out for a Halo Xbox, but that's about it. As a guy who owns at least 40 different 2600 variations (probably a dozen more), I can see how you would pick up console variations of a beloved system.

Here's another rather expensive variation for your list. Better get a nother large check ready.

It's real. The owner is the PR head for Live!
