Those of you who attended the Post CGE 2K2 dinner may remember some of the Double Entendre going on at the end of the table with Joe, Jaime, and myself. Some of you may also remember the Nintendo garage sale. Well the 1st day of this year's Sale is done, and I walked away with a few gems.

I will now do something that Charlie never managed to do. I will say "I bought two Stadium Events for a Quarter"

And then I will Back it up.

Here are a few more pics from the day's haul. If it's in a box, it's factory sealed. NES games were a quarter, SNES a dollar, N64 3-4 dollars, CGB games .50, AGB games 5.00, N64 systems 5.00, Game Boy systems 5.00 (also factory sealed), etc. You might also notice that there are two of the Hands Free Controllers made for the NES in the background. 2.00 each.

Yeah I know I'm bragging, but wouldn't you?

May I be the first to congratulate you, sir? I can't be truly jealous of you unless you also own Snatcher for the Sega CD or Terranigma for the SNES, but I'll do my best to stew in my own envy.

Hell yeah I would brag!

It's always good to see good peeps get this kinda stuff. Better than some 5 year old getting it, and using it as a frisbee for his dog, congrats for real.

Btw, is Snatcher even in the same leaque as this game? I thought this game was alot rarer, and worth a helluva lot more. Though I would like Snatcher meself.

Raedon

are they really that rare? I've got 6 stadium evens somewhere around here.. think I was using them for coasters.. :)

So Hands Free Controller do exists after all. I saw them only once in an old issue of Nintendo Power and it was selling for something like $250 and only through mail order.

I've wanted one for my collection.

@BHvrd: Snatcher and Terranigma aren't nearly as rare as SE. I just want them more.

It's a company fund raiser for United Way. it also helps to clean out the warehouses. As for the stadium events, I haven't decided what to do with it. Money from the bay sounds nice, but I'd like to see it get a good home, too.

Regardless, you guys really do need to sort this shit out elsewhere.

yea, no shit! This would be the kinda garage sale you dream about.. *DROOL*

You walk up, some old lady is tending some clothes, a coffeee machine or two.. You ask, "Got any video games for sale?"
"Oh sure, just a few though that door.."
and BAM 100 boxed mint Metal Slugs.. :D

...then you wake up with morning wood.. :/

Sounds like a candidate for "Find of the Year" if you ask me!

Now all we need is to have an award or event for "Find of the Year" so that we have a place to put this candidacy. It would be a shame to waste!

Congrats, Nate!

I talked to a woman on Team Nintendo once about the garage sales. She told me geeks like you line up for hours in advance to buy this stuff... :)

Just out of curiosity though, seriously: if they want to raise cash for United Way, why not partner with eBay to set up auctions of all that stuff? I mean, it's wonderful that you bought those games for a quarter each and now a little kid in Whateverstan gets a plate of rice, but wouldn't it be better if they just put them on the 'bay so they could buy the kid a motorcycle or some shit?

HAHAHA anotherfluke is a "geek" because he found games?? A little jealous are ya buck?? Ebay would be a good idea though, as long as all the money goes to a good cause. I think this is definately top canidate for find of the year.

Pa_nes_ian's just jealous because his nine copies of Stadium Events cost 75 cents apiece.

@pan, it's kind of an inside joke, no worries.

I prefer the term bafmodad thank you very much. ;) And yes, the lines outside the garage sale can get pretty long, but the wait isn't more than a half hour. they used to allow guests to come in which was why there were such long lines, but this year was employees only.

You mean like the Star Fox Adventures things? I haven't played more than an hour of it yet... Fusion has got me glued to my GBA.

And pan, I'd be jealous if I didn't have signed copies of Donkey Kong, SMB, and Zelda...

:D

Day II is done. I'll try and get some more pics up, but off the top of my head I got 4 famicoms for 3.50 each, a whole shitload of sealed amiga and commodore and old 286-style IBM games and NES games (seriously, like over a hundred), and a buttload of trinkets.

Ok, I finally got around to organizing some of the computer stuff from the garage sale. there was so much of it, I should have grabbed it all. as it was I grabbed a good chunk of it though. For you computer SW collecting guys out there (Rucas, Raedon, Mayhem, I'm looking in your direction), I'm curious as to the value/rarity of these titles. Can you give me an idea of what's rare and what's not?

If it's not (sealed) then it's complete w/box, inst. maps, posters, etc.

IBM PC

Blood
Miami Vice
Arkanoid II: Revenge of DoH (1 sealed, 1 complete)
Toungue of the Fatman (Sealed)
Space Rogue (sealed)
Maniac Mansion (ha, remember those old dark red "anti piracy" code sheets? also, this one comes with a ton of extras, maps, posters, etc.)
Faces ...tris III (sealed)
Donkey Kong (sealed)
West Phaser (comes in a big box with a light gun)

Amiga

Dragon's Lair
Dragon's Lair: Escape from Singe's Castle
Dragon's Lair II: Time Warp
Space Ace (sealed)
The Killing Game Show
Bard's Tale III: Thief of Fate

Apple IIe/IIgs

Donkey Kong (sealed)
Knights of Legend
The Bard's Tale II: Destiny Knight

TI 99 (these are carts)

Junkman Jr.
Star Gazer I, II, and III
(Both are complete, in baggies. is there more to them than the instructions and bag?)

Atari computer (all disk format (I think))

Realm of Impossibility (sealed)
The Halley Project (comes in a book style, no seals broken, has disks for commodore64 ver. as well)
Conan (sealed)
Captain Blood (sealed)
Murder on the Zinderneuf (sealed)
M.U.L.E. (sealed)
Gorf (cart - complete)
Donkey Kong (not sealed, but still has plastic on it)

Commodore 64

Neverending Story (also has Atari disks)
Montezuma's Revenge (this is the coolest, because it has a big ass sticker on it. It's a mailing label, addressed to HOWARD PHILLIPS. Mr. Nintendo Power Red Bow Tie Himself)
Steel Thunder (sealed)
The Last Ninja
Caveman Ugh-lympics
Rock'n'Rhythm (cart)
Ranch (cart)
StarGlider
AD&D: Hillsfar

Keir
12-18-2002, 08:40 AM
The carts should all be in the DPG. As for the disk games, rarity rarely has anything to do with their worth. Basically your RPGs are going to be somewhat valueable, everything else is pretty much worthless with few exceptions.

BTW, I would reeeeaaaallllly like that Junkman Jr. cart! If you're interested in selling/trading please email me.

Very nice find, so that's what Stadium Events looks like!
