Hey folks,

A recent NGage thread led me to the sidetalkin.com site, where I saw this:

http://www.sidetalkin.com/Images-Animal/p1010034.jpg

That was a Japan-only game for the Saturn, right?

So what is this item?

That's right. It's the cartridge used in the arcade machine.

Or did you want me to tell you that it's a picture of a kitty. ^_^

Gotta be the arcade version. I would think that the ST-V would give it away.

Definite arcade cart version, as I've had one in my hands :)

I'm pretty much 100% certain it's for the Titan board. Incidentally, I think it actually sells for a little bit less than the Saturn version. Of course, you have to have the arcade board to play it, so...

Radiant Silvergun is also better played on a JAPANESE ST-V mother Board.

Lately they've gone for $150-200, so the prices are rivalling the Saturn version. Good thing I got mine when they were "cheap". </bragging> :D

Sweet! Thanks, guys!

That ST-V is a pretty cool looking system! I though I'd heard of all arcade systems...I'm surprised I hadn't heard of ST-V. Based on Saturn technology. Hmmm.

I want one now, dammit! LOL

That link Videogamerdaryll put up mentions 48 games were made for it...I wonder if that includes the US releases. Is here a region mod for these? That link also mentions region protection.

I wonder if there is ever going to be a DP guide for arcade games. I know it would be pretty complex, and have an entirely different price range for the items, but how much would that rock?

I briefly researched these when I was looking at one on eBay.

Basically, there are no 'physical' differences between carts (like the NES/Famicon), the differences are programmed into the carts themselves. I believe there are 3 or 4 regions for the Titan. The region is programmed into the board's BIOS, and then the carts also have a region in them. Some carts are programmed to work only in one region, some are programmed to work in all regions, and some are programmed to work differently per region (different language, etc).

I remember at the time finding a replacement BIOS that allowed you to switch regions on your board.

Digging for Link.

Found Link. LINK (http://home.online.no/~tjaberg/stv/).

Check out this link...

http://www.system16.com/sega/hrdw_stv.html

It gives some great info on the system, lists all the games that came out for it, and even has screenshots. A lot of the games came out for the Saturn.

The site says "The manufacturer of the STV-Titan dedicated cabinets (plastic) was mainly a manufacturer of waste storage containers, molded plastic stuff and whatnot"

I remember playing VR Femix at an arcade and noting how bizarre the cabinet was. Very oddly placed coin slots.

Cheers

:D

p.s.
On a side note, I FINALLY found a copy of Astra Superstars (a SV-T arcade game ported to Saturn.) Fun fighting game!

Slightly OT, but last time I asked this I think all the other ST-V owners were in hiding...

Anyone know how to get stereo sound off the ST-V board? I have yet to figure it out and it pisses me off. I can get normal JAMMA mono, but I need stereo dammit!

I thought it was Stereo...
Sound: Amplified Stereo (two channel)

I just Pop either the US or Jap motherboard into my BIG RED Neo Geo MVS Stereo Cab and get Stereo.
Maybe you need to change the wiring to your speakers from the harness.
I have a manual,but it's in Japanese..
You need the Pinout..That I'll see if I can locate..

KLOV:
Manufacturer: Treasure
Year: 1998
Class: Wide Release
Genre: Shooter
Type: Videogame

Monitor:

Orientation: Horizontal
Type: Raster: Standard Resolution
CRT: Color
Conversion Class: Sega Titan ST-V - JAMMA
Number of Simultaneous Players: 2
Maximum number of Players: 2
Gameplay: Joint
Control Panel Layout: Multiple Player
Controls:
Joystick: 8-way
Buttons: 3
Sound: Amplified Stereo (two channel)

Description
A vertically scrolling shoot-em-up.
Game Play
There are actually four other weapons besides the three buttons. They are activated using the following button combinations:
A + B = Homing Plasma
A + C = Backwards Wide Shot
B + C = Homing Spread
A + B + C = Radiant Sword
What makes Radiant Silvergun unique is that you have all your weapons in the beginning.

At first, the weapons are very weak, but they can be improved by shooting same-colored enemies ("chaining") - similar to gaining experience for a weapon in a role playing game.

Miscellaneous
The only console port exists on the Sega Saturn.
Technical
The motherboard must be configured for two players, otherwise the game will not boot. The number of players can be changed in "System Assignments"-service menu.
Trivia
Widely acclaimed as _the_ best shoot'em up ever. So far everyone who has played the game agrees...
A PlayStation port of this game was planned, but eventually scrapped, as the console did not have enough power to pump out all the 2d-sprites the game requires.

See, I tried that. I have an English manual and there seems to be another 4-pin thingy that is stereo out and something else, but I can't get a damn pinout on it.

I have it wptking in a Stereo MVS cab.so the pinout for stereo must be an MVS set-up..
Goes to get pinout for that..

See the Pinout on this Page for MVS 2-6 slot Stereo.

This is how I get Stereo out of the board..
Instead of pin L being - negative..It's Positive...
Thus going to two speakers using 27.28,E,F as grounds.

L & 10 have to be used as Positives...Going to the Positives on two Speakers..
then two grounds..27,28,-E,F

The board seems to work as either..Mono or stereo..

What are you hooking this up to..?
