I was going threw some of my loose instruction manuals so i could help out some other DP'er get what they need cheap. And I noticed that I have 2 Genesis game manuals that are just completely black and white (The games were Jungle book and teenage mutant ninja turtles). Another manual I have that is just black and white is ScoobyDoo Mysteriers for the SNES. Are the black and one books worth more or less then a colored manual?

They're the manuals to the cheaper majesco releases, so I'd say they're worth less. It's like comparing a greatest hits manual to an original.

Be aware that Sega published some games with the cheaper black and white manuals such as the re-releases (Sega Classics line) of Shinobi and Golden Axe.

true dat.

I do know however that Nintendo Million Seller games (mario kart or dk country 3) are nothing like majesco releases. Majesco carts are crappy, end of story

Not really, there isn't really a difference in price between a complete game with a colored manual and a complete game with a B&W one.

also note that almost all genesis games officialy released by sega in the cardboard box came in black and white manuals, i blieve the only exception to that is toy story (which came in both color and black and white)

examples: x-men 2, mega bomberman, vectorman 2 , etc

There would be if I was buying it. :P

my original sonic 3 came with the manual in black and white. Also sonic 2, sonic 1, thunder force 3, sonic and knuckles, and others.

In my experience, most of the Sega platform releases had B&W manuals. That may be a purely American thing, since I've heard the Japanese manuals are in full color and filled with artwork.
I've never liked black and white manuals. Felt it was rather cheap.

Didn't that SONIC adaptor thing (can't believe I forgot the name) come with one also?

I am curious as to how, other than a dull label on the cart?

Well for one I think the Millon Sellers have colored manuals. At least Dr Mario/Tetris did.

Many early Genesis titles, but especially the cardboard and the Majesco versions had B&W. For example, I think my Last Battle cart has a B&W manual...damn, now I gotta go check. :-D But as someone mentioned, all my Japanese Genesis carts have purty color manuals.

I saw a complete Player's Choice Donkey Kong Country at a game store not too long ago, and it had a colored manual.

Black and white manuals are not a sign of majesco pirates. ALL of the consoles launch games and many of sega's own games had black and white manuals (original prints had coloured, though). The only game that has ONLY a black and white manual is Truxton.

Well... later release genny games in cardboard boxes also have black and white manuals. And I wouldn't consider Majesco releases to be pirates really. They were licensed weren't they?

I always hated how the Konami/Ultragames NES games had simple black and white manuals. They were useless. Compare these to the Nintendo manuals for games like Zelda 2 and Mario 2. I carried these to school with me and read them over and over. They were like books to me.

Yes, all of Nintendo's "Million Seller" games that I have (around 6-7) had full color booklets...

Had to be, or that stuff would have been pulled off shelves. Majesco manufactured the Genesis 3 console....

Yeah that was basically my train of thought as well.

majesco was just a company that re-released games for budget prices (starting at 19.99).

Dead give aways on majesco releases for SNES include black and white manuals, carts that have the warning label printed directly into the cartridge (no sticker) and on the bottem left corner of the front label of these SNES cartridges it reads "assembled in mexico." The box gives away majesco information as well as it should read somewhere in small print (usually in the bottom right hand corner on the back)
"all rights reserved.
distributed by mejesco sales inc.
244 fernwood avenue edison , nj 08837
1-800-826-0015"

Also, a factory sealed majesco release is different then a regular released factory sealed SNES game. The seal on the majesco looks crappy like a reseal (but it isn't).

I don't know how genesis majesco releases are, but that is pretty much the story on Super NES ones.

They also come with a majesco warranty/comment card or somthing like that. Oh boy!
