I went to EB last night and sell some games I didn't want. Anyway, I got $90 Cdn plus tax in credit. I decided to pick up a copy of Sonic Mega Collection brand new and a used copy of Mario Sunshine (they were sold out on Metroid Prime, so my choice was slightly easier than usual). I ended up paying $30 out of my pocket (the two games cost a total of $120 plus tax).
Anyway, the Sonic Mega Collection is sweet! They even kept the original Sega intros (the Sega chime, the Sega yell, etc., depending on the game). I wish there'd be even more extras, but that's okay. I don't see Sega including their anti-Nintendo ads in the CD (that'd be counter-productive in their relations with Nintendo, wouldn't it be?).
I now realize that the only Sonic games I've played were the first two games in the series, as well as Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine. So it's fun discovering Sonic Spinball (it isn't a really bad game, as long as you like pinball) and I now see how weird is Sonic 3D Blast (what the heck is it with the isometric view? Feels like a Sonic version of Zaxxon!). Now, if I could only unlock the 5 remaining games... Anyone has tips on that? I checked Gamefaqs, but I don't know how accurate or complete their tips were. BTW, yes, it is possible to get Knuckles to work in Sonic 2 and 3.
Little update: according to another site I consulted (and their info made more sense than what I read on Gamefaqs), you unlock the hidden games by playing a given title a number of times.
