Hope one of you fellow gamers can help:

I was curious about information on two potential prototype cartridges for the Atari 7800:

1. Save Mary
2. Shooting Arcade

I haven't come across these two before and curious if they are indeed prototypes and what you'd estimate the value of them to be. Additionally, if you have any info about what the games are, it would be a great help !(game descriptions, format, etc.)

Appreciate any assistance!

If they're 7800 updates to the Atari 2600 versions of the game, it's news to me! There was a rumor that Shooting Gallery was being developed for the 7800 as well as the 2600 but to date no prototype has shown... or has it?

Here is the info on the 2600 protos:

Save Mary:

Save Mary info (http://www.atariprotos.com/2600/software/savemary/savemary.htm)
Shooting Arcade (not Gallery) info (http://www.atariprotos.com/2600/software/shootingarcade/shootingarcade.htm)

Both games are actually 2600 carts. But - at one time - I recall Atari7800.com released them both for the 7800 on a compatible board. No idea why. I think it's because the games are a bit too sizable to fit easily on a standard 2600 ROM, but fit nicely in a 7800 ROM. Or I could be talking out of my ass. ;)

Someone else will probably have more info, but the links above are the games you seek. Save Mary is actually very, very good.

EDIT: Video 61 seems to still have Save Mary for the 7800 for sale:

I get the idiot award, I was looking under 7800 thinking that they had to be 7800 prototypes, not even considering the backwards compatibility that they were 2600 prototypes.

I have some more homework to do now, to see exactly WHAT system they were for....

What would you estimate the value of these two at?

If I remember correctly, Save Mary is a 2600 game that must be played on a 7800 to work, though it doesn't do it in 7800 mode, obviously.

Sniderman may be right about that rom size thing...I have no idea....I remember hearing an explanation once but it was a real long time ago, so I don't remember at all!

What would you estimate the value of these two at? Protos? Name your price. No idea.

Repros? Valueless, as someone can always make anudder.

Atari7800.com planned on releasing both games. The reasoned that to run on a 2600 would require special hardware, but they'd run fine on a 7800. Neither are actual 7800 protos, and I don't think Atari7800.com ever actually sold any of them.

You can play it on a 2600 via a CuttleCart

Sweet...good tip. I'll give that a shot. :-)
