First of all, such a version does NOT exist, as many of us are aware of that. But how many of us have seen the actual US Saturn cover of D&D? If you have a complete copy of US Street Fighter Alpha ONE, you can.

On a Capcom phamplet, there it is. US cover of D&D. It says "Dungeons & Dragons Tower of Doom." Here is the description:

"From its conquest of the arcades, Dungeons & Dragons: Tower of Doom brings it all to your home. In the world of wizards, mazes, monsters, and mayhem, earn weapons and magic with your gameskill and wits. With one to four players able to join in at any time, there are 24 different attack maneuvers, more gameplay than the arcade version and a story that unfolds differently every time you play. Pick your character and explore the D&D world."

Dang... four players... too bad they didn't do it in the D&D Collection (I still don't get why they took the 4 player mode out). Sure, the US version was slated apparently NOT to include Shadow Over Mystaria (sp?) but 4 players? I think I just might take this over JP D&D Collection 2 player. It'd also have been in english... maybe with good load times too. I don't know. *shrugs*

I just know my jaw dropped when the first thing I saw as I opened the SFA manual was this ad... I never saw or even heard about this before. Just wanted to share this with everyone. :)

PS- there are two screenshots, one showing a 4 player energy panel with english text "you hear screams from up ahead." Too bad Capcom never got this baby out.

D and D is basically Final Fight with swords. I use to work at in import shop and it sold rather well, with none of my 'English Only' customers ever needing help.

Don't worry about this, this thread is D&D in general. Well, pertaining to Sega Saturn would be nice. :)

D&D Collection is quite import friendly. It's a beat 'em up, no RPG, so it's not text-heavy. You'll enjoy the game fine without being able to understand a few things here and there. The only thing you won't enjoy is the going rate of D&D Collection... clocking in at a hefty $75-$90 clip. Sometimes it goes for 100+... but it usually is in the 80-ish range.

the reason why it didnt come up in the us was the need for the 4meg cart; something that would have cost alot of money just fro one game

This is a great beat-em-up game (actually two games) but the leading times are atrocious. I wonder why? The loading times for the 4-meg Capcom fighting games are miniscule.

Still fun if you like this sort of thing.

Cheers

Yea, why they never include 4 players in home console ports of beat em ups is beyond me.

I used to really love the D&D beat em up games, but as the years have gone by, I look back and realize they aren't what they were. Still worth getting for the Saturn though.

Well, since SoM uses the 4 meg cart and already has rather long loading times, perhaps there just wasn't enough RAM to load 4 player sprites without cutting animation and further increasing loading times? Capcom never really cared about cutting animation if they had to, but that statement mostly applies to their PSX ports, heh.

Everytime I see a post about the Dungeons and Dragons collection for the Saturn I get depressed. Had the chance to pick it up for $20 dollars (new) three years ago, along with Street Fighter Zero 3 and The King of Fighters Collection (KOF 95 w/ram, KOF 96, KOF 97), also $20 each and new. Did manage to get Metal Slug, Dracula X and Deep Fear though. Anybody want to trade? ;)

D&D rocks. I played this game with a friend this first time a few months back on the saturn. It would be nice if it were a bit more english friendly, but, it is easy enough to follow.

Side note: I have a fold out ad that came with Street Fighter Collection. It shows a US Buster Bros. Collection for Saturn. I know it never made it here. Is there a Jap version, or, was it psx only?

Is it the same as the psx version?

Aw mate, it's alright. It's not like D&D Collection goes for 500 bucks or is the rarest game out there... it's quite easily available and you can get it for 2 digits (99 dollars and under) without much trouble... so it's not the end of the world, per se. Though, I see how it'd hurt. BTW, do you now have a copy of it, or no?

I do have a review (http://www.geocities.com/opcfg3/dndssreview.html) of the D&D Collection up on the OPCFG. If I still had a Saturn, I'd want to track it down.

Nah, wish I did. Everytime is crosses my mind to look for one on Ebay I can never find one under $100. Usually see it for $125 or so and a high of about $165 once.
