I recently got terranigma(australian version) and modded my snes to play the game, but the screen is slightly shrunken. I assume the only way to play this without the shrunken screen would be to use a PAL system, would a PAL system even work on a NTSC TV?

By shrunken you mean borders on the top and bottom of the screen? That's the crap PAL players get for playing in 50Hz.

I don't know if this works for Terranigma since I don't own the game but if you have a 50/60Hz switch on your console, you can boot the game in 50Hz and when it's running, switch to 60Hz for full screen and smoother gameplay. Check Gamesx for the diagram.

As for the PAL console in US, you'll have to get a PAL->NTSC video converter if you're using composite. With RGB that's not necessary but we all know how that goes down with the US TV industry.

Why don't you just get an import converter for your US SNES? Or is Terranigma able to over-ride the converter?

I know that about half my PAL games won't work on my NTSC Super Famicom.

Terranigma is one of the tricky late-releases that isn't compatible with most convertors.

Yeah.

I try running PAL Donkey Kong Country through my HoneyBee Super Magic Converter, on my SFC and it has the nerve to come up with: "Use of this converter will cause serious damage to your console."

I wasn't really irritating that it didn't work, but the fact that Nintendo spouts this kind of bullshit.

Which reminds me - are there any better SNES/SFC converters out there than the HoneyBee I have? I'd like to be able to play more of my PAL SNES games through my Super Famicom. At the moment, only about half of my 20-something games work.

I believe the Pro Action Replay 3 is the best one. They sell for a small fortune when they show up though.
I've got a PAR 2 and everything I've tried on my US SNES with that has worked, but I haven't got many of the late releases or RPGs.
