Watch out--this grave is pretty big.

Ha! Secret message. Anyways...
I think this is a pretty bad idea, unless Nintendo can manage to do something revolutionary with this. Maybe allow the movie to be downloaded onto a DS?

A Metroid movie would be cool, but who would play Samus?

I say Kate Beckinsale or Jessica Biel would be good.

Nintendo Enters Movie Biz
It's official. First movie to hit sometime 2006. (Last movie to hit sometime 2006.)

Haha. You guys are quick to critisize them. I'll be going to check out one of their movies when they come out. Just to see how it is. Even if it is bad.

Having said that, Yamauchi has suggested Nintendo's first effort should be a visual interpretation of Japanese poetry

dude, it could get interesting. as long as they don't make a butt-load of "disney-esque" movies and push those out.

visual interpretation of Japanese poetry could get very cool

it is quite possible that with ideas like that, not all the movies will be game-based, which could be cool.

Bah. Sega is the one who should be making a film company. Just think about it. Sega Pictures, Inc. Think of all the film adaptions that could be made from Phantasy Star, Streets Of Rage, Sonic The Hedgehog, Shining Force, Space Harrier et al.

Why in the hell don't they make a movie about Zelda!!!?? I mean Samus is interesting and all, but it would just come off as an Aliens/Riddick clone. At least with Zelda, it would get likened to LotR. *grumble*

Ugh, a sonic movie? That would be miserable. Im sure sonic would run so fast you wouldn't be able to keep track either.

Zelda definatly has some good potential for a movie though. I would want to see it more then any other video game movie. If your gunna make a video game movie it should be on an RPG, cause there as boring as a bad movie to begin with. -_-

I hope Nintendo does well with the venture because they have a lot of good properties that would translate well into animated features, like Zelda and Metroid. I would really like to see an F-Zero flick though, or maybe a good Super Mario movie.

No, they let other studios use their characters/license. This will make them have their own studio where they will be in total control. Like Sony had with Final Fantasy.

Maybe they could remake the Super Mario Bros. Movie right this time... Of course, I'm picturing really bad acting and voice work set with Sunshine characters. @_@

:(

I don't like the sound of this....I really don't...Hollywood and Games don't mix man...it works for some...but others is like a cold winter night for me.

"Mortal Kombat" was good, but the sequal was total suck.

I'd be all for a good quality "Zelda" movie (none of that "EXCUUUUUSE ME, PRINCESS" crap) but looking back at past VG movies my hopes arent terribly high.

Same here. People praise Bob Forward for Beast Wars, but his true greatest works were for Zelda (he wrote the entire run, though some with Phil Harnage) and He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.

That said, though, what I'd like to see is a Zelda animated feature in the style of the art in the Zelda 1 manual. Sure, that art style is now woefully dated, but it just screams epic.

I'm all for Zelda the movie(s)

Imagine: Link getting the sword, battles, meeting the old woman, finding the fairy, going though and defeating the first boss...hmm...if every level (piece of tri force) were a mini-movie...God damn they could make alot of money! (If done with good acting/directing and staying true to the games that is) ;)

I'd love them to make a Metroid movie but I fear it would be shite. Samus never speaks and I can't see anyone wanting to make a movie in which the lead character is quiet all the time (they would have to think carefully about the movie dynamics and the plot). I would dearly love them to make a silent movie but I can't see that happening! BTW: Does anyone know what happened to John Woo's interest in the Metroid movie thang from a while back?

I'd also love to see a F-Zero CGI movie akin to the cutscenes in F-Zero GX - the first one especially has a really cool vibe to it and would like to see this expanded...

Heres hoping that the F-Zero movie won't be "F-Zero: Fast & the Furious 3"

The Rumour from the The Hollywood Reporter (http://arstechnica.com/news/posts/1081374531.html) states that you are looking at a 2006 release for Metroid : The Movie. <--That was a link by the way.

And just because I am always opinionated, I would like to state that I don't like the synopsis description of the movie, and that John Woo is interested in it for Martial Arts and Acrobatics.... Acrobatics, yes....Martial Arts? ...ummm....
