Anyone here ever modded his consoles like this? When i see this it's very tempting to do it too.

I haven't experimented with leds that much, but here is what my SNES looks like:

The switch on the top is for 50/60Hz, it plays PAL+JAP+USA games, and of course I have added a blue led as well :)

That's gold? It looks more silver to me. Funny thing is, I painted my nes almost exactly the opposite of yours :D I'll get a pic up sometime soon.

I like the Nes with all the blue led's and the cut out, on the top looks cool too, i might have to attack
my snes and see what i can do! :P
also here is a paint job i did on a Snes about a year and a half back!, i think most of the snes
collectors/gamers might have seen it before..
The pics aren't the best, but the next time you have the black killer instinct cart in your hand, it's a match,
i really should have, took a pic with the Killer Cart, instead of that cheap ass starfox cart! ;)

Here is a picture of the nintendo I use. I did it a few months back and never got around to posting pictures. I would really like to do a Ninja Gaiden themed Nintendo sometime. Too many projects and not enough time.

I'll post pics later of my game cube - I had it modded at ColorConsoles.com - no idea if they even exist still. Got the cube colored emerald blue with black buttons and black disk lid. Changed the LED to Blue as well. It's much better than that forsaken purple. I hope they learned their lesson and never release anything in purple again.
Though i'm alwyas open to a system that's entirely in RED. 8-)

I personally like this one, looks very professional. Kudos

thanks a lot man. I worked hard on it. It was my second video game custom paint job. This is not a console but it was my first. It is one of the Pelican Real arcade joysticks. The gamecube version. Finishing something like that makes me want to paint everything I own. I am trying to talk my girlfriend into letting me do the microwave.

I unfortunately don't have any pics, but I love to customize my systems. Just about every system I have has something unique about it. Basically, I put blue LEDs in almost everything. My XBox & PS2 have chrome skins in green and blue respectively, and I put a lighted jewel in the XBox.

Only about a two days, and that includes paint drying time. I removed the parts and painted the top all white with spray paint .I just Used a photocopier to enlarge the cover of the game to the right size. Made a stencil out of that. covered the entire white top with masking tape. Used the stencil to trace the graphic on and cut it out of the tape with an exacto knife. sprayed all black let dry and enjoy.

This thread has inspired me to mod something. I think I'll start off simple by taking a spare SNES and painting it to look like a Famicom.

My SNES is all yellowed. I should paint it a different color. Painting it purple to match the power and reset buttons would be kind of cool....

I am starting to mod my dc. i have a friend that is good with soldering, so he is going to install my led's. I already have the clear red shell for it. I plan on putting blue led's in the controller ports, power light, and fan. in fact, as long as i get ahold of the guy, it will be done within the next couple of weeks

Does anyone here, have any rough diagrams on putting L.E.D's in consoles, i know how to soilder and have a rough idea about resistors, but if any of you guys could shed some more light on the topic, that would be great thanks..
In diagrams i mean what resistors to use, and what area's of the console, to use to power the L.E.D's..... that type of stuff?
I was thinkin of a Black snes with red or blue L.E.D's hidden in the cart slot, so you'd have light, coming out of the gaps around the snes cart, once it's plugged in and the console switched on, maybe do something with the nintendo logo at the back of the console??

I am in need of info on modding a NES 2 for A/V output.... I'd prefer to use separate audio and video jacks instead of a headphone jack, but both would work...
The pictures and instructions I've found online aren't good enough :(

I need information to mod my NES\Atari\Saturn\microwave\etc.
For all you modaholics out there, some very good sources of information:
http://www.gamesx.com
http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/console/index.htm
How hard is the 50/60hz switch to make on SNES?
The SNES 50/60Hz mod is listed on both sites, and is relatively easy to do. If you don't have any previous experience at soldering, you should first experiment a bit with an old PC card or something, just to get used to lifting a few pins, connecting some wires etc. When you decide to do the 50/60Hz switch mod, you should also disable the lockout chip; this will enable you to play imports as well. ;)

Krylon Fusion is made for plastic... unfortunately there is a limited selection of colours...
You should also use a couple of coats of clear coat.. so that when the inevitable scratches occur, you only lose clear coat...

This SNES was my first whack at modin'. I had alot of funny painting it, but I'm not quite ready to take on more ambitious things like LED's or changing anything that's required to function. LOL Someday I tell ya... someday.

ACIDIC PAIN: how did you duplicate the super nintendo logo?
or is it raised on the newer units?...
Icarus Moonsight
12-08-2004, 08:52 AM
The red part of the snes logo is raised from the plastic. The black "Entertainment System" part is recessed. Also the small nintendo logo at the top right is also recessed. Takes a very fine brush to do the recessed areas... surgeon's hands also helps. It's just a paint job... no stencils or anything else that's real fancy. Classic NES Gray/Red/Black, for interest the grey is actually Hammered Aluminium.
