Check check it out - it's not that tunnelling pictochat is amazing, but it means that we are on the road to playing Metroid etc via tunnelling.

Great news....online play via tunneling may get me to buy a DS even sooner :)

Yeah it really is awesome. right now it only works with a very specific setup which also includes specific hardware (router, wifi card for your pc, whatever - and by that I mean specific brands couped with the software that you need) So its not like you can go to a starbucks wifi hotspot and get your ass kicked by me in Metroid just YET. But it's promissing news none the less.

good christ, i hope this all turns out to be true. i REALLY REALLY want to be playing some metroid prime hunters multi, and i haven't had a chance to yet (don't know anyone that has a DS). hopefully whatever you need to get this running isn't too costly....

Well I'm not one to give a techinical definition - but it's the same thing that was done by Warp Pipe with the Gamecube. They used a program that they built to connect your gomecube to your PC via the LAN adaptor and tricked the cube into thinking it was playing on a LAN, but actually you were playing against people accross the net.
So, now the DS has been tricked to do the same thing. Albeit, only with pictochat thus far.
Something else occured to me. If this hacker did this THAT quickly since the release of the DS, I wonder how far along the Warp Pipe team is with their project, considering the high probability that they are on N's payroll - I'm sure they have had Dev kits for a while.
No matter what, this is great news.
