View Full Version : So I Have This Sealed Copy of Halo 2... (UDPATED!)

...and I can't do a darn thing with it. ;) I do not have regular contact with anyone who to my knowledge owns an XBox, and the PC port of Halo 2 will probably be in the bargain bin by the time I can justify buying one.

I am presently in a position to trade this for a boxed copy of Mac OS 9 and (possibly) a new copy of Windows XP (which is not something I actually have on hand). If someone can match or even do better than this offer, or convince me of the utter senselessness of this action, I would be most eager to learn.

UPDATE: Well, I managed to get OS 9 anyway, which means I still have this sealed Halo 2 that I cannot do anything with. And I can do without Windows XP, I think. Thus, I'm wide open for trades.

I have so many unplayed PC games already, but I suppose there are a few things I might be interested in:
Lemmings Revolution
Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project (low value!)
The Lost Adventures of Legend
Escape from Monkey Island
MDK and MDK2
Serious Sam 1 and 2
The Longest Journey
Syberia
Star Wars KOTOR
(However, I suspect Halo 2 is worth substantially more than any one of these individually.)

If you have anything else intriguing, don't hesitate to suggest it. I also might consider anime DVDs (but only complete series or movies), or maybe even a nice batch of Terry Pratchet novels.

Depends on what XP and OS9 go for. Far as I know, there's no shortage on Halo 2...so getting more than $50 in value is gonna be tough unless someone has spares of those OS's.

BTW, shouldn't this be in the buying/selling forum? :)

Well, OS 9 is worth next to nothing now since it's technically a retired OS (yeah, I know, there's the Classic OS 9 in OS X, but that's more like an emulator than a separate system).

Oh, it still gets quite a few bids on eBay. (It is, after all, the last version of the Mac OS that many old Macintoshes can run.)

I just thought I might be missing something blindingly obvious here. (I hate it when that happens.)

I would say your're better off selling it on ebay, cause a copy of Win XP retails for $200, Mac OSX 10.3 goes for $170, and why would you want OS 9? All Macs G3 and beyond can run OSX. But if you must have OS 9 I might be able to get you a backup copy.

You should be able to download OS 9 for free off of Apple's website. You gotta dig, but they usually keep old versions of OSs up there.

Search on eBay for completed listings for "Mac OS 9" and tell me it's worth nothing.

And the last free version of Mac OS is 7.5.3 + 7.5.5.

I build computers for some extra money on the side and I have purchased all my copies of Windows XP Home Edition for around $89. Of Course its not the retail edition of it, but rather the OEM version. Its the same thing as the retail version except you dont get a box, it comes in a sealed cardboard backing package and you get limited tech support from MS. I dont know if you get extra software with retail but with all the copies of OEM I have bought, they have all been straight up just Win XP.

Still, its worth the $89 for an full operating system.
