I bought this game at TOYRUS over week ago due to cheap price. I have played it for about a grand total of +/- 50 minutes. Visuals are kinda cool, taking photos are kinda cool, but fighting : ugh!!! Also I'm not really sure where to go next. I just beat the flying centipede-like thing, got bored and haven't played it since.

There has been much discussion over the past year on this game. Do a search.
At about 50 minutes of gameplay, you really haven't seen much though. I didn't care much for the game until after a few hours of play, then it seemed to click and gel and ... I really loved the experience by the end, even played it over again. Stick with it, try to understand how to find animals and get pearls and use your map.

I really enjoyed what Ive played so far, but I got stuck in some area in the factory level and I haven't gone back since. I guess I really need to finish it someday... I'd say it really deserves a sequel, but after seeing what Ubi did to Prince of Persia, I'm not so sure now. They'd probably just turn it into an "M" rated slash fest and give Jade a steel thong (http://www.penny-arcade.com/view.php3?date=2004-12-03)

I don't have much to say since I just started the game recently myself, but I'm liking it so far, so I'll probably play it quite a bit in the near future.

Beyond Good and Evil (PC version) is the Christmas gift I bought my best friend, as a sort of stocking stuffer (the main gift will be some art supplies). I sure hope that she likes it!!!

The greatness of this game is paralleled only by the total lack of advertising that Ubisoft did for it. Sadly, we will probably never see a sequel :(

Yeah need some info on it, specially the second game. Its a great game I purchased it as soon as it hit $20. A short time after christmas, it really didn't sell as well as it should have. A great game, with even greater competition.

I'd say it really deserves a sequel, but after seeing what Ubi did to Prince of Persia, I'm not so sure now. They'd probably just turn it into an "M" rated slash fest and give Jade a steel thong (http://www.penny-arcade.com/view.php3?date=2004-12-03)I think Jade in the outfit she wears now is much more attractive than any other female game character I've seen in a while. This INCLUDES the DOA girls. I'm serious. I'll take natural beauty and brains over big boobs and a swim suit anyday.
ADVANCED SPOILER WARNING ABOUND, AVAST ME HARDY!
I pulled this game out the other day again because I loved playing through the first two times. (First time I screwed up and got to the end with no health. Second time I remembered to stock up. Tip: Bring LOTS of Starkos and K-Bups with you to the Moon, else you WILL regret it.)
This game has probably one of the best stories I've ever seen in a game outside of an RPG. And it is so deserving of a sequel, it's a shame the Madden and GTA lovers ignored it. The creator originally said he wants it to be a Trilogy, but I am saddened there has been absolutely no word on whether the story will be continued or not.
We'll never find out what happened to Jade's parents.
Will they be returned?
Will the adopted children get their own parents back?
What will happenn to Pey'j?
What's the significance of the name "Shauni" and how did she come up with it so fast?
The original came out at $50 if I am not mistaken. Before "Budget" titles became as popular as they are. So I think if Ubisoft made a sequel and released it at say $30 or $20, people would probably buy it. Not only did people get into it after it dropped in price anyway, if a sequel came out, more people would notice seeing as more people know about the first than did when it was released. Let's cross our fingers for at least a last "Closer" game.
I'd really like to re-visit Hillys post-rebellion to see how it changed and maybe the other planets they originally planned.
The scene when Jade returns to find the lighthouse destroyed and the children all kidnapped was one of the most emotional scenes I've ever seen in a game. Actually, it is THE most emotional I can remember. I literally teared up. It hit me that hard, and took me by such a surprise. I really was not expecting such a jarring shock in a video game. This ain't no "Muahaha!! It is I, Bowser and I have just kidnapped Princess Toadstool again while you weren't looking!" This was life altering, mood shattering, shock.
Okay, I'm done.

I agree that Jade is a BABE! Anybody want to spoil something for me and tell how in the heck I'm supposed meet that first guy after I kill the centipede thingy. I go one way with my boat get destroyed by the gate laser, I go the other way and a security hoveship picks me up. And the other ways sends me back to the shop/lighthous/dock.

Can you really use the PS2 hard drive to save games or does it have to modified to do that?

I paid $5 for mine. It would have been a bargain at 10x the price. It's probably in my top 20 games of all time somewhere.

Michel Ancel, the game's creator, said that they had PLANNED a sequel. There were plans to allow Jade and crew to go to all these different planets--note how when you look up at the sky, you can "target" different stars and see how far away they are.
Here is an interview with him that states that a sequel is planned. Note that they didn't have the sales figures of the first game when he makes the quote:
Interview (http://www.manchesteronline.co.uk/entertainment/games/news/s/69/69882_interview_with_beyond_good_and_evil_develope r.htm)
BUT...given the game's poor sales (attested to multiple places), a sequel is unlikely.

That is, if your referring to loading games to the hard drive and playing them from the hard drive then yes HDloader or HDadvance, as for "game saves" (IE: saving your progress) that is still saved to memory card.................

Wow. Hearing good things about this game. I overlooked it and just assumed it was a lame title. I guess i should pick one up. :-P
I ran out and bought a copy as soon as all of the ravings for this title began.
It's sitting on my shelf, reserved for my "winter" stack. I'm very much looking forward to this game.
Come to think of it....I never DID buy Prince Of Persia. I might put that on my list of things to do today.

I grabbed this back at Toys R Us for $7.50 or something. Really good game from what I have played so far.
Sadly, Its another title in my long list of halfway completed games. Maybe I should slow down on buying games so I can keep the interest in games I currently have...Im hopeless. :/

I would go so far as to say that Beyond Good and Evil was better than Wind Waker.
I'm ready to go.
Any takers?

I must be the only person on Earth who thought this game wasn't that great...
My main complaints are that it is too short and too easy. I beat it in less than 12 hours with all pearls, pictures, etc. Not much incentive to play again after that. I also found it to be buggy. There is a known bug where your companions will sometimes "disappear". If this happens, all you can do is restart the game from the beginning (or an earlier save if you happen to have one). I had this happen to me, and it didn't endear the game to me. I don't know if I have ever seen a console game bug this bad, where it basically renders your saved game useless. So be careful and rotate your save slots!
Despite the above, I didn't hate the game; in fact I liked parts of it. But I can understand why this didn't sell: no one wants to spend $50 on a game that can be completely beaten in a weekend rental.

Found this at my FYE and considering buying it. So the BG&E series wa splanned as a trilogy?
Jasoco

Yes, sadly. A trilogy that may never be completed. I wish they'd at least make one sequel. They leave it open and never close it!
