That must be one terrible emulator, because the NGPC is an awesome little system. I really need to get around to buying one of those someday.

NGPC rocks hard. Your emulator must suck or you picked some really crummy games or something, because it has some of the best damn handheld games you can find. Cotton, Sonic Pocket Adventure, Magical Drop, and all the fighting games, those are all awesome stuff.

It's a great handheld system. SNK vs. Capcom is the best handheld fighting game in existence, bar none. The Metal Slug titles are fun, as is the Sonic game. Card Fighter's Clash is cool, Neo Turf Masters is a great golf game, and so on. There are many other excellent fighters as well. The system controls perfectly thanks to its mini-joystick. It's a better machine than the GBC (which is what it was in competition with), and the screen, although not backlit, is very easy to see. I think you were fooled by the emulator - I've played around with a few of them and most were quite bad. The real thing is much better, and definitely worth having, especially if you're a fan of SNK fighters.
NGPC is a nice little handheld. I wish it was backlit though. Pacman is amazing on the pocket. The Dpad was made for pacman i swear!

yea NGPC is really fun. I also wish it was backlit but it's not a problem. Cardfighters clash is cool. I suggest you pick one up.

You've been fooled. The NGPC is an AWESOME handheld. You must have had a crappy emulator, and some bad games, as others have said. Look for Neopocott, I think it's called. Probably the best one. Also, try out Dark Arms, SNK vs Capcom Match of the Millenium, SNK vs Capcom Card Fighters Clash, and maybe Neo Turf Masters.

NGPC was a badass little portable. So many memories in such a great selection of titles.
Fatal Fury First Contact, SNK Gal Fighters, Last Blade KOF R-2, Samurai Shodown 2!, SVC MOTM are so worth it
Card Fighter Clash was a golden gem I thought. For a card battle game, this one packed a great punch with pretty much every single Capcom and SNK character..still bugs me out how accurate it was. They should have released an updated verison of GBA...would bitch slap Yu Gi and Pokemon by a thousand miles
My personal favorite was Dark Arms: Beast Buster 1999. Feels like Blaster Master (over head view style)
Other recommended titles. Sonic Pocket Adventure...Puzzle Bobble Mini... Puzzle Link...Pac-Man...Neo Turf Masters (Ultimate lil golf game)...Metal Slug 1st and 2nd Mission
Import wise:
Card Fighter Clash 2
Ogre Battle
Rockman Battle & Fighters

C'mon man! It's SNK, Neo Geo. It may be niche but it's awesome. Gonna be a hot item 10 years down the road. It's cheap now... small game lib... very easy to collect for, and complete. Get it all now cause in years to come you may not be able to afford it. :D
Besides eBay, look around - I've been running into 4-paks of games for 15-20 bucks... I have also found a few system + 4 game paks for 50-60 bucks... **drool**

Too bad it died so soon.

yeah, i've got one, too bad it doesn't work :( that's what i get for not checking things out before i buy em LOL
I remember when it died and Pocket Games magazine got all fanboyish and went 'HAHAHAH THE NGPC SUCKS AHAHHAHAHAHA IT'S GAY' and that's all it was the whole article, not even mentioning what the thing was, and the only game it mentioned was a flying one's screenshot in the top right corner with the caption 'hahahahahah this game is gay'. Yeah I stopped reading Pocket Games after that.

Sorry, I should have said this as well --
I'm looking for games that are ONLY on the NGPC, cause I can promise you anything available anywhere else is going to be better on that system. :D
Seriously, I was thinking about getting one, but I'm only into adventures, RPG's, sims, strategy, and a few action games. The GBA is rich in games of that nature but I did'nt see anything on the NGPC.

Yeah, your emulator must have been terrible, or the ROMs corrupted or something, because the NGPC is one of the best handhelds I've ever seen. Cardfighters Clash (Pokemon TCC-style RPG), Faselei! (strategy/action), Sonic Pocket Adventure (basically Sonic 2), Bust-a-Move Pocket (GREAT port!), Oekaki Puzzle (A Mario Picross-style puzzler, Japan only but playable if you can't read Japanese), Match of the Millenium: SNK vs. Capcom (Best. Handheld. Fighter. EVER.)...
Not many games in the library, more than I've listed (thankfully), but most all of them play extremely well. It's a handheld gamers' wet dream!

Oekaki Puzzle has a UK release, called Picture Puzzle. I love it, and I finished all the puzzles only about a month ago.

Well, Faselei! is an RPG/strategy game, Dark Arms is an action RPG, Biomotor Unitron is an RPG, and Card Fighter's Clash is a strategy/card game. All of those are exclusive to the system, as well. The Metal Slug games are also unique and completely different from the AES games.
But yeah, if those are your preferred genres, you're definitely better off with a GBA.

The Metal Slugs are both completely different from the arcade ones. Magical Drop Pocket is on other systems, but only if you shell out the cash for imports or the neo carts. Faselei is NGP exclusive, as is card fighters. SNK vs Capcom is unlike all the other games of the sort, and even if you don't like fighters, its simple and has sweet minigames. As for Sonic Pocket, it's based mostly on Sonic 2, so even if its available on genesis, I'd still recommend the neo pocket one.

If you ask me, the NGPC's fighters STILL slaughter anything on GBA. Plus the NGPC D-pad is SO much easier to use with figthers. In fact, I perform better with the NGPC D-pad than ANY other D-pad, joystick, etc when it comes to fighters. I'm not especially good at fighters, so I struggle with other controllers.

Yeah... I forgot about the nifty joystick of the NGPC it makes a big differance. Still, the GBA has four buttons (albiet two are shoulder-mounted) and better graphics & sound. The NGPC is still the shiznit, whatever that is.

The thing about the GBA fighting games is that you have to use the L/R buttons as actual buttons. I hate that, it makes it impossible for me to pull off special moves, expecially on the SP. I always hated playing Capcom fighters on the SNES and Playstation for the same reason. On the SNES version of SFII, I would just set L/R to be MP/MK and not use them at all. To me, the scheme used in most of the NGPC fighters, where you tap the button for a weak attack and hold it down a bit for a strong one, works a lot better.

Rule of thumb - Don't expect to get the full feel of a system while playing on an emulator... :hmm:
I recommend SNK vs. Capcom: MOTM (duh), Metal Slug: 2nd Mission, and either of the Puzzle Link games. :D

Worst system EVER....don't even think about buying a system...or hoarding any games for it, especially because they're SO EXPENSIVE right now. You'll break your budget trying to put together a NGPC collection. And the games suck to, did I mention that? LEAVE ALL THE GAMES TO M...nm :o

That emulator did you bad, my man. This is one of the best handhelds around, and you would be hard pressed to find even a single bad game for it. All games for it are great, that's no lie. Sure, it's not back-lit, but the battery life on these little babies are so long, you won't even need a rechargeable battery pack.
Best games:
SNK Vs Capcom : Match of the Millenium
SNK Vs Capcom Card Fighters
Neo Turf Masters
Puzzle Link 1 & 2
Sonic Pocket
Dark Arms: Beast Busters 1999
Biomotor Unitron
Avoid:
Dive Alert
Fatal Fury First Contact
Rare imports worth picking up
Evolution: Eternal Dungeons
Faselei!
Last Blade
Be warned, those imports listed can go for high prices and are tough to find, especially if you want the UK versions.

NGPC is great man! The only portable worth owning atleast until the NDS and PSP gets a decent game library. And it got good battery life time too!
